Who are Elsie Fisher’s parents?
Elsie Fisher was born to parents Nicole and Christopher Fisher. They are the reason why she is the brightest person she is today. In fact, it was her father who introduced her to acting.
As a child, Elsie loved entertaining people. During one of her visits to a club, she got on stage and started acting. One of the impressed guests then suggested to Christopher, “Hey, I have a friend who is an agent. Have you ever thought about letting her try her hand at acting?” Christopher listened to those words and thus Elsie’s acting career began.
Two years later, when Elsie was six, she had her first role in the series Medium. She then became famous for voicing Agnes in two Despicable Me films.
Throughout her career, Elsie has received constant support from her parents. Even when she was going through a difficult time as an eighth grader, they chose to homeschool her and let her go at her own pace.
It’s no surprise that Elsie’s parents were overjoyed when she was nominated for a Golden Globe at age 15. The actress recalls watching the nominations live alone at five in the morning, and as soon as the announcement was made, she could hear her dad shouting in the next room, “Great!”
Christopher also bought donuts to celebrate his daughter’s achievement. Elsie also celebrated the milestone in her own little way by buying video games and music and rewarding herself with a well-deserved nap.
Surprisingly, although her parents are the most important people in her life, she rarely shares pictures of them on social media.
Meet Nicole Fisher, Mother of Elsie Fisher
Elsie Fisher’s loving mother is named Nicole Fisher. She is the actress’s “amazing mother” who always took care of her even when she swore “I don’t need it.”
Nicole was born on September 19, 1982, to James Stanley Rasmussen and Anita Belle Hayler. She comes from a family of five, including siblings Jennifer Crownover and Rachel Rasmussen.
Sadly, her mother, Anita, passed away on April 24, 2010, at the age of 66. She graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and spent 19 years as an elementary school teacher in Moreno Valley, California.
Before marrying Nicole’s father, she was married to Derry Benedict. She only met James when she went to work for the Social Security Administration (before becoming an elementary school teacher).

Meet Christopher Fisher, Father of Elsie Fisher
Elsie Fisher’s ever-supportive father, who shouted from the next room when she received her first Golden Globe nomination, is named Christopher Fisher.
“What a coincidence. Today I found a lost father, I think I will adopt him!” she once shared his picture on her IG.
Christopher was born in June 1973 to Scott Fjeldstad Fisher and Farah Fisher. Like his wife, he comes from a family of five, including two siblings, William and Allen Fisher.
Sadly, Scott passed away on July 19, 2017 from pancreatic cancer. He was a graduate of San Pedro High School and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from Pacific Lutheran University.
Scott spent more than two decades teaching—first music, then in an elementary school classroom. He then worked at universities (CSULA, CSUDH, UCLA, UCI) writing grants and administering research, often related to medicine. Then, in the early 2000s, he finally realized his dream of owning a restaurant, Bread Basket in Idyllwild.
His passion has also been passed on to his son. Christopher now works at Cafe Aroma.
It was also through her job, a shift at a local jazz cafe, that Elsie got the chance to step onto the stage and that was the start of her acting career.
After her performance, “The whole restaurant was amazed,” Christopher recalled.
Six months later, he sent his daughter’s headshot to Kazarian, Measures, Ruskin, and Associates, a small but legitimate talent agency that represented Joey Lawrence and Ian Ziering. The agency signed her as a client, and within a month, she was in a national commercial for Toys R Us.
