Meet Anni Sternisko, Jonathan Wang’s wife

Anni Sternisko first went on a date with Jonathan Wang on October 19, 2017, after ignoring him for over a week. “Anni finally texted me back saying she had 30 minutes free on Thursday the 19th to ‘have a quick drink’ with me,” Jonathan recalls. But Anni didn’t know that Jonathan was in LA at the time.

“Anyway, I took the chance and gave her those 30 minutes,” Jonathan said. She was so “special” to him that he booked a flight to NYC the next morning just to have the chance to spend a few minutes with her.

Luckily, a 30-minute drink turned into a two-hour dinner and a nightcap at another bar. Five years later, it turned into a perfect fairytale wedding in Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany.

The couple got engaged in July 2022 at the Würzburg Residenz Hoffkeller. On their special day, Anni and Jonathan were joined by family and friends, along with hundreds of cases of wine (literally).

Looking back, Jonathan says 2022 was the “most glorious and dizzying” year of his life. And not just because he married the woman of his dreams and Everything Everywhere All became a hit, but also because Anni defended her thesis, became a doctor, and ran a marathon.

That year, the couple also moved out of the Silver Lake apartment they had shared for 12 years and renovated a new home in Mt. Washington.

Plus, Jonathan couldn’t help but gush about his wife on stage at the 95th Academy Awards. “To my beautiful, brilliant wife, Anni: If all this glitter and tuxedo went away, I’d just do laundry and taxes with you for the rest of my life,” he said.
