Hillsong Church took no action against Jason for months after Anna’s report, and Jason initially denied the incident. But when it was finally confirmed, he was placed on paid leave.
At the time, Ashley had just given birth to her first child, but she was still leading Anna’s volunteer group. While Jason insisted that Anna was deliberately trying to come between him and his family.
In January 2020, Jason pleaded guilty to “indecent assault.” He was subsequently placed on two years of probation and required to undergo counseling. He was also banned from any ministry for 12 months. Meanwhile, Anna left Hillsong College and the church. The church’s general counsel eventually dismissed the lawsuit, responding that their ministry team would continue to care for Anna as they had always done while maintaining their duty of care to Jason, his wife, and their family as a church. “Jason’s actions have caused pain not only to Anna, but also to his wife Ashley, not to mention other family members,” he wrote in his final words.
To this day, Jason and Ashley are still together, married, and even happy.
The two got married on September 26, 2013. Four years later, on their anniversary, Jason was seen gushing about how Ashley was his first and only girlfriend, her best friend in the world, etc.
Then, on Valentine’s Day last year, Jason went on a rant about how his girl has been a pillar of strength over the past few “CRAZY” years. He went on to write on social media that he was pinching himself to think they’ve been together for a decade.
