Below Deck’s personal chef Johnathan Shillingford is reportedly off the market amid reports that he is dating his partner David Sargsyan. The two have been together for over a year; in March 2023, Jono debuted on Instagram. In July 2023, David also wished Jono a happy birthday by posting an Instagram video of the two of them together with the message, “Happy Birthday Baby.”

David shared another video of himself with his newfound memories in July 2024. This time, the caption read, “Happy Birthday Bubs 🥰.” Although Jono has posted a few photos of their time together on social media, it seems like he wants to keep their relationship more private! Jono shared more photos of the two of them together on March 18, 2024. “Blondes with me like Hilton!!!” was his caption for the cute photo. “What a fun year with this teddy bear goofball,” the user said, adding a kiss emoji.

Despite the lack of official evidence, it seems he was celebrating their anniversary.

It’s possible David even got to meet Jonathan’s relatives when they visited Jonathan’s native Dominica. However, the chef also accompanied David to his opera performances in Berlin. Jonathan Shillingford was born in the small Dominican town of Roseau. His parents, Gregory and Gillian, were very close. Over the course of his seven-year career in the yachting industry, he has established himself as a culinary architect.

Speaking about his own cooking style, he says, “I feel like I’m cooking because I’m trained in architecture.” His academic background includes seven years of intensive study for a master’s degree in architecture. His main passion is being a chef on a boat, although he still designs for select clients.

David loves to express himself through movement whenever he gets the chance and is an avid dancer. On the August 26 episode of Below Deck Med, Captain Sandy Yawn reached her breaking point with Chef Jono. When Jono delivered tuna carpaccio to a guest without first consulting her preferences questionnaire, the awkward situation began.

“It looks so good. I would eat it if I could. I can’t eat raw seafood because it would kill me. I said about 15 times on my order sheet that I can’t eat it,” Sandy and Aesha Scott, the head chefs, were informed by the guests. “I have iron overload. It would kill me if I ate it.”

“Raw seafood could have killed her, and it was right there on her plate,” she confronted Jono, demanding an explanation for the carelessness. “It was a big mistake,” she exclaimed. “I need you to know how serious this is.” Jono tried to defend himself but eventually admitted his mistake. “I feel terrible, I don’t know how I could have let it go,” he said in his explanation. “I think I was just overthinking things.”

Sandy then fumed at the cameras, saying, “I’m really angry. In thirty-five years at sea, I’ve never seen a chef serve something potentially fatal to a guest. I just need to find a replacement chef because this is a crime that could land me in jail.”
