He said his wife, Deborah Sharp, has been a great supporter of his during those busy days.

Kerry said he and Deborah realised that while he was stuck at home for so long at the height of pandemic restrictions, it might be time to start a new chapter in their lives. “We realised that we always did well together, so maybe that’s what we should do now,” he said excitedly.

So it’s clear that Deborah has been looking forward to the day her husband can finally come around and never have to go to work again. “So proud of my husband and his 30+ years as an excellent correspondent for NBC. The Today Show gave him quite the sendoff as he (and us!) enters a new phase of his life,” she wrote on Facebook recently after he left the TODAY show.

Deborah and Kerry have come a long way. They married in 1989. Decades later, they still enjoy each other’s company. On their anniversary (January 8) a few years ago, Deborah wrote affectionately on social media about how she hit the jackpot by marrying the most wonderful man in the world.

The former US Marine’s wife even shared some photos of their favorite awkward wedding ceremony on social media.

So when Charles died, Deborah’s mother was left to raise her two youngest children, Deborah, then 8, and Charles Kevin, 4, on her own. Marion, who already had an older daughter, Charlene, had to work double shifts at the restaurant so she wouldn’t lose their home on Davie Avenue.
