He is the owner of Forte Oil and also the former chairman of Forte Oil PLC, a fuel products importer.
He is also the founder of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd and owns several other businesses in the shipping, real estate and finance sectors.

Early life
Femi Otedola was born in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, southwestern Nigeria, to the late Michael Otedola, Governor of Lagos State from 1992 to 1993. His mother, Lady Doja, is a Nigerian businesswoman.
He is the second son of four brothers and grew up in Lagos with his three older brothers.

While growing up in Lagos, he had a strong passion for the priesthood and wanted to study at seminary to become a priest in the future, although he later refused to commit to the priesthood because he could not give up his passion for business.
Education
In terms of education, Femi Otedola attended the University of Lagos Staff College, then attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he obtained his first degree in 1985.
Soon after attending Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, after having acquired some skills in running a successful business, he started working as a marketing officer for his family printing business, working in the printing business exposed him to a lot of business strategies.
Career
In 1994, Femi Otedola founded CentreForce Ltd, which specializes in finance, investment and trading. He is also the owner of Swift Insurance.
In 2003, he saw an opportunity in the fuel retail market and secured funding to establish Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd, a petroleum distribution company in Nigeria.
He was a member of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) in 2004 and that same year was appointed to a committee tasked with developing trade relations with South Africa.
Femi Otedola is the owner and chairman of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd. He invested $15 billion in developing downstream infrastructure in 2004 and acquired storage facilities in Ibafon, Lagos State, where he also purchased a fleet of 100 Daf tankers for $1.4 billion that same year.
In January 2006, he was appointed a non-executive director of the multinational conglomerate Nigeria Plc.
Femi Otedola has made a number of real estate investments, including the acquisition of Zenon of Stallion House at Victoria Island in Lagos for N2.3 billion in February 2007. The following month, he was appointed chairman of Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. That same year, he was also appointed chairman and managing director of Africa Petroleum through the acquisition of a controlling stake in the business.
Otedola became the second Nigerian after Aliko Dangote to appear on Forbes’ list of billionaires, with an estimated net worth of $1.2 billion in March 2009.
Femi Otedola is the managing director and chairman of Sea Force Shipping Company Ltd and was once Nigeria’s largest ship owner after expanding his control over the distribution of diesel products.
