American Idol winner Laine Hardy has been arrested after allegedly planting a listening device in his ex-girlfriend’s room at Louisiana State University. The country singer was arrested after his ex-girlfriend found a recording device in her on-campus residence this month.

The identity of his ex-girlfriend has not been released. There is no information about her on the booking paperwork filed with the 19th Judicial District Court in East Baton Rouge, but the report says they dated from November 2021 to February 2022.

The singer is accused of leaving a listening device at his ex-girlfriend’s dorm at Azalea Hall to “monitor her conversations” when they broke up, after dating from November 2021 to February 2022.

According to jail booking documents, “the victim stated that last night, while watching a movie with her roommate, [they] found a device, which appeared to be a phone charger, under the victim’s mattress.” After searching for the device on Google, “she learned it was a VR-500 Voice-Activated Recorder.”
