Meet Jack Oar, Star of Mountain Men Tom Oar Brother
Mountain Man Tom Oar is known among fans of the show as someone who doesn’t like being in the spotlight. He shares very little about his family and occasionally introduces his brother Jack Oar, a professional falconer, to viewers on the show. One thing that can’t be overlooked about Jack is that he’s just as camera shy as his brother.

Additionally, Dwight has served his country for the past 24 years as a member of the Illinois Army National Guard and is currently a Staff Sergeant serving as a diesel engine mechanic. Oar tried to balance the images of dead birds and fleeing poachers. Once, she was tracking a falcon killed by a deer hunter a mile away. “It really broke me,” he said. “It made me see blood. I thought someone had gone deer hunting and failed to hit a deer and decided to shoot it.”
“We don’t have to kill something every day,” Oar said. “For me, the best thing is to see them improve every day. You can see their minds working.” Oar has no illusions that the poachers will be caught.
Now, Jack is also passing on the knowledge he has learned to the children. He says the children learn very quickly, the part of falconry that Oar enjoys most.
“Furthermore, Jack and other falconers across the state have worked for decades to try to educate and inform people about these beautiful birds and the important role they play in the environment,” said Dave Smith, president of the Idaho Falconry Association. “It’s time for people to step up and say we will not tolerate this kind of senseless vandalism.”
