Meet Janet Meyers, Elana Meyers Taylor Mom

Whatever sport you name, Janet Meyers, Elana Meyers’ mother, played it all through high school. She was also a cheerleader. Although she didn’t have the opportunity to go to college, her dream of becoming a star athlete lives on through her Olympic daughter.

Like Janet, Elana also played a number of sports. But her passion was always the Olympics, and Janet was prepared to make that happen. In college, she played softball but the coaches discouraged her from participating, saying she was too late for it. However, the Meyers family was watching the Torino Winter Olympics, and Janet suggested she try bobsledding if she wanted to compete in the Olympics.

Janet started coaching her way up before she went to college and seeing her daughter wanted to be in the Olympics more than anything, she said, “You know what? If you want this to happen, we can do it.”

On Mother’s Day 2016, Elana celebrated her mother in a Facebook post. She captioned it, “Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom in the business – the woman who made me who I am! I love you! And Happy Mother’s Day to all the other moms in the world!”

Janet Meyers’ husband and children

The Meyers family always encouraged their daughter to pursue sports because Elana’s parents were also athletes in their time. Elana’s father, Eddie, played college football at the United States Naval Academy. He later played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons.

Eddie Meyers has served at PNC Bank Georgia as the bank’s President. He was promoted in December 2011, having previously served as Executive Vice President & National Chief Investment Officer for over six years from October 2005 to December 2011.

He joined the bank in March 2000 as a Business Development Officer.

Back in 2015, Eddie spoke with Baltimore Sun about his job at PNC and shared, “My goal was to get into banking and this job gives me a sense of excitement. I am fortunate to do something I look forward to every day and get paid well. What could be better?”

During Eddie and Janet’s 33-year marriage, they also had two more daughters — Erica Warren (@mrsericawarren) and Elise A Brown (IG: @ebrown_rn & FB: @Brown26.Elise).

Erica is quite private about her personal life. Meanwhile, Elise currently works as a Health Care Nurse at Wellstar Health System. Previously, she worked as a Nursing Supervisor at Wellstar Health System. Elise is married to Tremayne Brown and currently lives in Austell, Georgia.

What is Janet Meyers’ ethnicity?

By ethnicity, Janet Meyers is Caucasian while her husband is African American. This is why Elana identifies herself as a biracial athlete.

Janet Meyers’s work

In various interviews, Elana has mentioned that her mother was a student athlete, but her actual job is unknown. She is probably a housewife who takes care of three children. As for her husband, he wanted to play in the NFL more than anything. Janet’s husband waited six years to play in an NFL regular season game, but it never happened.

From 1982 to 1987, Eddie served six consecutive years in the military and used his leave to attend Atlanta Falcons training camp. He played exhibition games—23 carries, 108 yards, one total touchdown, according to Atlanta Journal Constitution — but never in the regular season, as duty called. In the 1987 preseason game, he injured his toe and was subsequently released.
