Meet Neil Goldberg, Jeff Hiller’s Husband
December 20, 2021 marks six years of legally recognized marital bliss for Neil Goldberg and husband Jeff Hiller. So they were married before 2013.
Then, on March 6, 2018, when the couple celebrated their 10th anniversary, Jeff took to Instagram @boomboomhiller to adorably write, “Ten years ago tonight, I went on my first date with Neil Goldberg and it was the best choice I made in 2008 and probably the entire decade.”
Today, accompanying them in their decades-long marriage is their cat, Beverly Goldberg-Hiller, after each of their last names. She even has her own Instagram, @daily_beverly. She’s the “Spokescat” for Neil’s podcast, which we’ll get to later.

His work has also been produced with fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, the Center for Experimental Television, the Harpo Foundation, CEC ArtsLink, the Stillpoint Foundation, Yaddo, and the MacDowell Colony.
During that time, Neil continued to teach at Yale and Parsons School of Art, a job he has held since August 2013.
Previously, he was a resident instructor at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and a visiting artist at Cooper Union, the School of Visual Arts, New York University, the Rhode Island School of Design, MIT Media Lab, and UCLA, among others.
Since 2019, Neil has hosted the podcast She is a talker. to dive into conversations with his favorite New Yorkers and more. So far, the host has interviewed the likes of hip-hop artist Cakes da Killa, fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, Golden Globe winner Kathleen Turner, and (of course), Jeff.
Not to be missed, in March 2021, Neil released a four-minute film Hallelujah Whatever, Whatever via the New York Times Op-Docs. He later explained Time how he revisits a video he shot in the early 1990s, of vendors near his East Village apartment throwing open their gates in the morning, to reflect on the constant change and resilience that mark life in New York City.
In the four-minute film, Neil juxtaposes footage from 1992 with a video of a neighbor waving a white handkerchief from their window during quarantine. “I loved it, and looked forward to it, and recorded it night after night,” Neil is heard saying in the film.
Talking about his education, Neil received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, majoring in History and Computer Science from Brown University (1981 – 1986).
