Early life
Lucky Aiyedatiwa, currently serving as Governor of Ondo State, was born on January 12, 1965 in Obe-Nla town, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
His parents, Titus Akande and Rosanah Moyebi Aiyedatiwa, played a major role in his upbringing. Growing up, Lucky Aiyedatiwa had the pleasure of having four siblings in his family.
Education
Lucky Aiyedatiwa completed his primary education at Saint Peter’s Elementary School UNA (now FAC) at Ilaje LGA of Ondo State from 1970 to 1976. He then attended Ikosi High School in Ketu, Lagos, for secondary school and graduated in 1982.
In 1986, Lucky graduated Lagos State Teachers College (Currently Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education) at Ijanikin, Lagos, with a Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) in Economics and Government. He then, in 2001, attended University of Ibadan to obtain an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration.
Career
Lucky Aiyedatiwa began his public service journey in 2004, becoming the National Public Relations Officer for the Association of Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria (ABCON). Over the years, he has held various leadership positions, including serving as the South West Regional Chairman of ABCON from 2010 to 2011. Aiyedatiwa then ventured into the business world, assuming the role of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Blue Wall Group.
In 2011, Aiyedatiwa turned to politics by joining Nigeria Action Congress (ACN), later merged into All Progressive Congress (APC). Actively involved in the party, he represented the APC as a delegate at the 2014 national congress. His political journey began when he emerged as the party’s candidate for the Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency in the 2015 general elections.
In recognition of his contributions, Lucky Aiyedatiwa was appointed as the Federal Commissioner, representing Ondo State at the Niger Delta Development Commission Council in 2018, a role he faithfully held until 2019. In 2021, he achieved a milestone when he was elected Deputy Governor of Ondo State, serving alongside Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

On December 28, 2023, a historic moment took place in Ondo State when Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who had previously served as Acting Governor, was formally sworn in as Governor. The solemn swearing-in ceremony took place at the Cocoa Hall within the Governor’s office premises in Akure, the state capital. Presided over by Justice Olusegun Odusola, the Honourable Chief Judge of Ondo State, the ceremony saw Governor Aiyedatiwa sworn in at 5:18 pm.
