So, what is her story? Keep reading this Maddy Morphosis Biography to learn all about her.
Maddy Morphosis on RuPaul’s Drag Race
The Emmy-winning show RuPaul’s Drag Race debuted its first season in 2009 and since then, there has never been a straight man on the show. But that all changed when “a drag queen who happens to be straight,” Maddy Morphosis, joined the show in 2022.
“My sexuality doesn’t define my drag, it doesn’t affect it. It’s just an aspect of who I am outside of drag,” she shared.

Maddy Morphosis Controversy
“I broke that glass ceiling, yeah. It’s finally time for a straight, white man to get their piece of the pie, right?” Maddy Morphosis joked during a December 2020 livestream when announcing the cast. And it certainly touched a nerve for many.
A controversy quickly erupted online that the show gave an opportunity to a “privileged, straight white man” that could have gone to an LGBTQ+ person who needed it much more.
Additionally, some have suggested that if RuPaul wanted to “change things up,” he could simply cast queens with diverse queer identities who have never appeared on the show, or even include drag kings.
Two days after the cast was announced, Maddy took to her IG to respond to the criticism with a four-page letter. In short, she noted that you can’t “fully understand a person” based on “short clips and snippets” online. She had experiences that helped her understand more about “gender and sexuality” and “what it means” to her.
Additionally, while acknowledging her “privilege,” Maddy shared that the concepts of “masculinity” and “femininity” are “arbitrary and made up.” And to anyone who suggests that she represents an “underrepresented group,” Maddy said, “I appreciate it, but straight men are not the group that is mistreated and excluded in the drag community.”
Even drag queens like Gottmik, Jasmine Kennedie, Angeria Paris VanMicheals and Brooke Lynn Hytes have supported Maddy on her Drag Race journey.
While much of the online community found Maddy’s presence in drag to be controversial, some were quick to defend her. “Drag is for everyone. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Some of you just don’t seem to get it,” RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Divina De Campo joined the group.
What is Maddy Morphosis’ real name?
Maddy Morphosis’ real name is not listed on any official RuPaul’s Drag Race page or any fan pages for the show.
As for her stage name, it’s a play on the word “metamorphosis.”
One day, she hopes that “other straight guys who watch Drag Race with their girlfriends” will realize that it’s okay to be themselves and embrace their femininity — “because that doesn’t change who you are,” she added.
