Meet Michael Abbott, Jinkx Monsoon’s Husband
Michael Abbott first met Jinkx Monsoon at Kiki, a club in Manchester, England, in March 2019, while he was working as a bartender. And it was a fateful meeting!
At the time, the Drag Race star had plans to hang out with another drag queen friend of hers. But she “dumped” them. So while hanging out alone, Jinkx found a bartender friend (Michael) who had never heard of Jinkx or watched Drag Race.
So after work, the two went to Jinkx’s hotel room, where they stayed up all night talking. The next day, the two spent the rest of the day flipping through TV channels, getting to know each other better. And Michael also sang to the reality star what was playing on TV, and they were impressed with his ability to play it by ear.
A few days later, the two were romantically linked—holding hands on the streets of England and singing their hearts out. Sadly, Jinkx’s tour was over, and on their last night together, after getting drunk outside a bar called Glamorous Birmingham, they decided to go long-distance.
Months passed, everything was going well, then the pandemic of 2020 hit. “We were Skyped, FaceTimed, texting constantly,” Jinkx recalls.
Finally, after being approved for a 90-day trip to the United States, Michael got engaged to Jinkx in October 2020. And a month before Michael’s trip ended, the two broached the concept of commitment without ownership. And on January 6, 2021, the couple held a small ceremony at home with friends and family watching over a video call.
Their wedding took place in Jinkx’s living room in Portland, Oregon, with comedian Deven Green officiating.

To name a few, he has been the sound producer and mixer for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards (2021), Genius Junior (2018), Shark Tank (2009–2013), The X Factor (2012), Duets (2012), and more.
He also performs at a few small shows. For example, he took to the stage at Sackville Gardens in December 2019, and he also went to the University of Hull auditorium to sing his favourite French nursery rhyme À la claire Fontaine (By the Clear Fountain). And that’s not to mention all the impromptu gigs he gets invited to.
For Michael, music is the ultimate universal language. “It has the power to bring people together from such different backgrounds and perspectives that they wouldn’t otherwise think of interacting with each other,” he explains.
Additionally, the talented musician is a huge fan of David Bowie. “Bowie was a true genius and remains a hero and endless inspiration,” he shared.
Overall, Michael has made a lot of money in his career. And thanks to his work, and a year of “no sour cream and avocado at Chipotle,” he was able to buy a new house in April 2022.
Also contributing to the house is her partner Jinkx, who starred on RuPaul’s Drag Race. In case you didn’t know, she also won season 5 of the popular show, taking home a $100,000 cash prize.
Fun Fact: Michael may be a great musician but he is certainly not the best dancer.

Michael Abbott came from a family of at least four. He was born to a mother, Judi Abbott (possibly his grandmother), whom he loved dearly.
On October 2, 2021, Michael even showed off a photo of Judi on IG, captioning it: “The birds are singing for me and my girlfriend.”
Likewise, Judi is very supportive of Michael. She often goes to Michael’s shows and even her co-star Jinkx’s shows.
