The Discovery Channel has launched a new show called “The Mighty Underdogs.” The show features young boys and girls who compete in the show to show off their skills as Junior Handlers. So of course the kids will need some help, so here we have Jody Davidson, a professional dog trainer, guiding the teens.

On the show, young teens compete against each other to win a spot at the AKC National Championship and Westminster Dog Show. So it’s Jody’s job to guide these kids through the task. Some of the younger contestants are Emerson (13), Turner (16), who has a short window before she can’t compete due to her age, Camryn (13), who has a Pomeranian named Kevin, and Lily (13), who has social anxiety but definitely likes to show her dog Gnarly.

Over the years, Jody has worked with several companies as a dog trainer and honed her skills. She worked as a CPDT-KA dog trainer to earn her Doctorate in Obedience. She began training dogs in 1963 at the age of 11. Throughout her career, Jody has earned over 32 AKC Companion Dog titles, 8 Outstanding Companion Dog titles, and 4 Utility Dog titles as well as over 64 other AKC Championship, Racing, and Obedience titles.

Jody is also a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers and is certified as a dog trainer through the Certification Board for Professional Dog Trainers. Additionally, Jody is an AKC Good Canine Citizen, Advanced Good Canine Citizen, and STAR Puppy Evaluator.

Additionally, Jody is one of the few AKC qualified judges to conduct Temperament Testing. She is one of the most successful trainers of Junior Showmanship competitors in the country, who regularly qualify for National Finals and rank among the top youngsters in the country.
