In an emotional video, Ben opened up about his battle with cancer as the teen’s friends and fans showed their support. While most of his videos are humorous and feature him swimming in Costa Rica or dancing in Times Square, his most recent video took a more somber tone. From his hospital bed, he began the video by telling his followers that they were going to “talk for a bit.”

“This is not really a fun, lighthearted video to make and anyone who has my condition knows that this is not really something fun to share,” Ben said as he began to tear up. Ben said he waited to release the video until all of his family and friends knew about his condition.

“Okay, rip the Band-Aid off – I have cancer,” Ben then revealed.

Later in the video, he asserts that his condition is not immediately life-threatening. After knowing about his condition for a few days, he claims to have had time to think about it. “If you’ve been following my TikTok for a while, you might know that I’ve been in and out of the hospital a little bit, like getting tested for what I have,” Ben added.

According to the American Cancer Society, lymphoma is a type of cancer that develops in cells that are part of the body’s immune system, and Ben revealed to fans that he has the disease. He described the three stages of lymphoma—A, B, and C—and how each stage gets more complicated to treat. According to Ben, the “most common stage” is stage B, which is the stage he revealed he has.

“I am so grateful that I don’t have bone marrow cancer because that would have meant I would have had to go through another two months of chemotherapy,” he said.

“But this still means going through four months of chemotherapy,” Ben explained.

Ben said his treatment could be “shorter or longer than expected, depending on how my body responds because it’s a very intensive form of treatment”.

Ben said that although he knows his hair will fall out, he will try wearing a cold cap to hopefully prevent this from happening.

A cold cap is “something that cuts off blood flow from your head, but actually all the doctors said I shouldn’t expect much from it.”

“But I’m going to pray that it works,” he said. Ben went on to explain: “Even though most people told me that using a cold cap wouldn’t stop most of my hair from falling out, I wanted to try it because there were a few people who had been told the same thing and then had great results.”

“Hair isn’t the most important thing to me right now, but it’s the only thing I care about because I’m not going to die.” Ben added that chemotherapy has so many side effects that it’s “hard to get through day-to-day life.”

He said in his last video that he loved them. Then he said that he would keep them informed at every stage of the process.
