Following the huge success of Bridgerton, Netflix has ordered its own prequel series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, which focuses on the early years of Queen Charlotte’s reign. If you remember, Golda Rosheuvel played Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton. In the Bridgerton prequel series, India Amerteifio plays the young Queen Charlotte while Golda will return to play the older queen. The article talks about actress Golda Rosheuvel’s partner, Shireen Mula, who has been with the Dune actress for quite some time.
Meet Shireen Mula, Actress Golda Rosheuvel Partner
Born in Guyana to a Guyanese father and a British mother, Gold Rosheuvel moved to England when she was five years old. Growing up, Gold excelled at sports. However, a serious injury ruled out Golda’s ability to pursue sports as a career.
Drama and music were Golda’s preferred choices then. Her parents’ passion for music only added to her love of music. In fact, the Bridgerston star’s parents met while singing in a choir in Barbados.
However, as fate would have it, one day during career day at school, Golda saw a guy sitting behind one of the white desks with a sign that said “drama” on it, and she immediately felt that this was what she would do for the rest of her life.
Prior to her role in Bridgerton, Golda was primarily known as a stage actress. Some of her stage credits include Porgy and Bess, Macbeth, The Winter’s Tale, Romeo and Juliet, Angels in America, Bad Girls: The Musical, and Jesus Christ Superstar.
In March 2022, Golda shared the story of how she almost ended up in the Bridgerton cast. According to her, she originally auditioned for the role of Queen Charlotte’s friend, Lady Danbury. When the role went to Adjoa Andoh, she lost all hope.
However, Golda was asked to consider reapplying, and just days before Christmas, she tried again. With the help of her collaborator Shireen Mula, Golda recorded a few scenes on a demo tape and sent it to the director. Surprisingly, the director liked it and sent it to producer Shonda Rhimes. That’s how Golda landed the role of Queen Charlotte, with a little luck and a bag of talent.

The EastEnders actress recently addressed the possibility of marriage between the two. She said, “We’ll see, we’ll see. I mean, you know, I don’t see myself with anyone else.”
In April 2022, Golda spoke with host Marc Malkin on the Just for Variety podcast about an early career experience that left her confused.
The Bridgerton star shared that when she was first starting out, a lesbian director told her to keep her sexuality a secret. “We talked about coming out and being proud, about representation, and whether I should say I was gay in interviews. And the answer was no: ‘You absolutely shouldn’t. It could or would ruin your acting career,’” Golda recalled on the podcast.
Although Golda Rosheuvel is now out and proud, she said she found the incident quite strange and funny, especially since she really admired the director.
In the same podcast, Golda also admired her co-star Shireen and shared what she always said to her. “Just the fact that you’re on screen. Just the fact that you’re in ‘Bridgerton’ as a black, biracial, lesbian, playing the first black queen of England. Just the fact that you’re there is huge,” the 53-year-old actress shared.
The Bridgerton star revealed that she wanted to be honest with fans about her sexual orientation.
