Long Island serial killer Rex Heuermann was the father of two children, one of whom was named Victoria Heuermann. Victoria was the child of Rex’s second marriage to wife Asa Ellerup.
Victoria’s parents were reportedly married in 1996. At the time of Rex’s most recent murder, Victoria and her mother, Asa, were out of state. However, authorities discovered in a bail letter filed in the case that hairs believed to match Asa’s were found on some of the victims’ bodies.
Victoria’s mother has not yet been charged in connection with the crime at the time of this writing.
On July 14, 2023, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney announced at a press conference that Rex was in custody. Between July 2007 and September 2010, the young girls were reported missing. Tierney said they were discovered in September 2010. According to him, the murders of Melissa Barthelemy, Amber Lynn Costello, and Megan Waterman were committed by Rex. The Suffolk County District Attorney said that in the killings of the last three women, Asa and his children were out of New York state and he was alone in the tri-state area. Ray said a large amount of hair was found on Amber’s body. He said the hairs could not be tested for years until DNA technology improved because they had decomposed.
According to The New York Post, the “dilapidated Long Island house he grew up in” where Rex lived with his family and had two previous marriages is where he currently resides. According to NBC News, Rex and his wife were considered lonely, withdrawn people, and their home was considered “creepy” in the area.
In 2023, Rex Heuermann is 59 years old. He is a talented architectural consultant who considers himself an authority on the intricacies of New York City’s building codes. Before marrying her father, Asa was in a relationship/married to someone else. She has a son who needs special care, sources reported.
