Granblue Fantasy: Relink Development
The development journey of “Granblue Fantasy: Relink” began in August 2016 with the release of “Granblue Fantasy Project Re:Link”. Originally, the game was a collaboration between PlatinumGames and Cygames. The project features renowned talents such as composers Nobuo Uematsu and Tsutomu Narita, as well as artist Hideo Minaba.

The game was released on PlayStation 4 in September 2016 and was originally slated for a 2018 release. The game is set in the same fictional world as the original Granblue Fantasy, exploring different locations while incorporating characters from the original game.
As development progressed, the first public gameplay was shown at GranBlue Fes 2017, revealing details including four-player cooperative multiplayer and the option to play solo with AI companions. However, by February 2019, PlatinumGames exited the project, leaving Cygames to take over remaining development.
Since the project’s inception, Relink’s Director Yasuyuki Kaji has continued to work with Cygames on the game. Although originally planned for release in 2018, the game faced delays, with its scheduled release pushed first to 2022, then 2023, before finally landing on February 1, 2024, and releasing on January 11, 2024 A playable demo is available.
