Exploration Season in World of Warcraft Classic

On November 30, 2023, the Exploration Season began as a special server type in the classic version of the game “World of Warcraft”. This brought fresh content to the original “vanilla” world, introducing a new system called runes, which gave certain classes new abilities and allowed them to take on different roles. At first, players can only level up to level 25 in the first stage, and later stages gradually increase the level cap.

Each phase of the Season of Exploration will introduce changes to both player-versus-environment (PvE) and player-versus-player (PvP) content. These include a 10-player raid in Blackfathom Deeps and a world PvP event in Ashenvale. These changes are designed to provide players with new and exciting experiences by adding new challenges and opportunities to cooperate or compete.

The introduction of runes not only refreshes the gameplay, but also allows classes to explore different roles, making adventures more diverse and engaging. By limiting upgrades and releasing content in stages, “Exploration Seasons” encourages players to explore the game gradually, adapting to new challenges as they advance in each stage. The seasonal server concept injects a fresh breath into the classic World of Warcraft experience, attracting players with the promise of continuous exploration and adventure.

World of Warcraft Classic

World of Warcraft Classic is a video game produced by Blizzard Entertainment in 2019. It is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). It runs concurrently with the main version of the game and brings back the original World of Warcraft experience before the release of the first expansion pack, The Burning Crusade.

The game was first unveiled at BlizzCon in 2017 and launched to players worldwide on August 26, 2019. In World of Warcraft Classic, players can experience the game in its original form, as it was before any expansions were added. This means they can relive the early days of World of Warcraft and experience its original features and challenges.

After the release of World of Warcraft Classic, Blizzard subsequently released Classic editions of the Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King expansions. These editions allowed players to progress through the game as they had during the expansions’ releases, giving them the opportunity to explore the additional content and challenges that came with each expansion.

World of Warcraft Classic Game

World of Warcraft Classic replicates the state of the game after Patch 1.12.1 in September 2006 and before the release of The Burning Crusade. Player characters are capped at level 60, and the game does not contain any expansion content. Almost all of the original game mechanics have been accurately replicated, giving players the opportunity to relive the original experience. While Classic includes some modern interface and feature enhancements from subsequent expansions, it also addresses bugs and exploits present in the original version.

Players can choose from eight original races (humans, dwarves, gnomes, night elves, orcs, trolls, tauren, and forgotten) and nine original professions (druids, hunters, mages, paladins, priests, rogues, shamans, warlocks, and warriors). The game world is restored to its original state before the Cataclysm expansion, but does not include areas such as Outland.

To mimic the original patch release cycle, Classic is rolling out content in phases, gradually rolling out raids, battlegrounds, and missions. Unlike the original game’s content patches, these phases do not change the core game mechanics, preserving the balance that has been in place since release in version 1.12.1.
