Early life
On May 30, 1964, in Ashland, Kentucky, Wynonna was born Christina Claire Ciminella. Actress Ashley Judd is her half-sister. She received a guitar for Christmas. Wynonna was inspired by her mother’s country music and began playing music. In 1979, the two moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue music careers and eventually made a name for themselves.
The Judds
Wynonna reunites with her mother, Naomi, at a K-mart-sponsored New Year’s Eve concert in 1999 to ring in the new millennium. After a farewell tour in 1991, Naomi was preparing to retire due to a lingering case of hepatitis C.
The Judds reunited in 2010 for an 18-city tour called “The Last Encore.” In 2011, Curb Records released a new Judds album, I Will Stand by You: The Essential Collection. The Judds celebrated their 30th anniversary as a duo in 2013.

In 1991, the Judds separated and Wynonna began a solo career and continued this career with Curb. “She Was His Only Need”, “I Saw the Light”, and “No One Else on Earth” are the first three singles released by Wynonna.
All three songs debuted at number one on the US country singles chart. She has released eight studio albums, one live album, one Christmas album and two compilation albums, as well as over 20 singles, throughout her solo career.
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified three of her albums as platinum or higher. Singles “Great” Wynonna & the Big Noise was released.
