Early life and education
Xu Bin was born on February 19, 1989, grew up in Fuzhou, Fujian, and moved to Singapore with his parents at the age of 16 to study.
When he was still a Chinese resident, his parents wanted to give him a head start in school by allowing him to start school two years earlier than his peers. But his poor grades worried his mother, so she sent him to Singapore to complete his studies. According to Xu Bin, the only thing he knew was the alphabet.

At the age of 17, Xu Bin represented Woodlands Ringling School in the Singapore School Superstar Singing Competition, but was eliminated in the first round.
