Early life and education
YS Bharathi Reddy was born on 17 November 1974 in Pulivendula, a town in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh.
She is the only child of Dr. EC Gangi Reddy, a famous pediatrician and philanthropist, and Mrs. Gangi Reddy, a homemaker. She belongs to the Reddy community, a dominant caste in the state.

She was accused by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of being involved in illegal mining and export of iron ore from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, along with her husband and his associates in 2011.
She was named as an accused in the chargesheet filed by the CBI and was summoned for questioning and interrogation. She denies any wrongdoing and asserts that she is being targeted for political reasons.
She was also accused by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of being involved in the money laundering and disproportionate assets case against her husband in 2012.
She is accused of receiving and transferring huge amounts of money from various sources, violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
