Yung Joc claims his Kamala Harris Rally performance was blocked due to past Trump lyrics

Yung Joc wanted to support Kamala Harris and her bid for the White House, but was allegedly turned away because the song’s lyrics previously mentioned Donald Trump.

The rapper sat down with Angela Yee on her Power 105 show ‘Way Up’ on November 12. While there, he detailed the Harris campaign’s refusal to performance because he mentioned Trump in his 2006 breakthrough single, “It’s Goin’ Down” .”

“So I got the call to perform at a rally for Kamala. I said, ‘Okay!’ Afterward [later] they said, ‘I’m sorry it’s closed, sir.’ [I’m like,] ‘Why is it closed?’ [They told me,] ‘The record you’re about to perform on has the quote, ‘The guys in the hoods call me the black Donald Trump.’ I’m like d-mn. It was a different time and it was propaganda to me at the time!” he told Yee.

This is not the first time Yung Joc’s performance has encountered controversy. The rapper previously said he would turn down an offer of $250,000 to perform for the LGBTQ+ community.

Talk to VladTV in October 2023, he shared that he wouldn’t be “comfortable” at an LGBTQ+ event.

“No one has ever given me $250,000 for a show in my career. Don’t get me wrong, if someone called me today ‘Yo, man. We’d give you a cut. four million’…No, I might not do that either. It’s not that I have anything against LGBTQ people. But I probably don’t understand enough to feel comfortable enough to do this first do it. Maybe me I don’t want to be comfortable with this lifestyle. Is it okay? he said via ‘HipHopDX.’

“I might not feel comfortable rapping this song, and this man is looking at me with lustful eyes with his nipples exposed. With lipstick marks reading my lyrics to me,” he added.

While Yung Joc may not have come out for Harris, who would lose the presidential election to Trump, she has drawn support at her rallies from the likes of Beyoncé, Lizzo and more again.

However, not all of her guests were praised. Both GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion’s performances were met with criticism for their dance moves, especially their twerking.

Megan Thee Stallion was even blamed for costing Harris the election. Some people on social media called her performance “too obscene”.

However, the self-proclaimed Houston Hottie refuted the allegations in a post on his social media.

“They played crazy when I played it for Kamala. And I don’t think they heard what she said. Kamala said she wanted a ceasefire. Kamala said she supported women’s rights. Kamala said she was tired Tired of high priced gas. Kamala said I’m for everyone… Hotties for Harris!” Megan said.

Many people feel that Megan should have focused on talking about her Health Administration degree instead of talking about the importance of universal healthcare rather than twerk.
