Caresha Romeka Brownlee, also known as Yung Miami, was born on February 11, 1994 in Miami, Florida, USA. She grew up in Opa-Locka. At the age of 17, she was performing in strip clubs, nightclubs and block parties.

Yung Miami stated that she loved trap music since she was a child, and told Rolling Stone magazine: “My little boyfriend used to take me to school every day, so I listened to a lot of trap music when I was a child.” She has an older brother named Chrisey Pressley and an older sister.

Yung Miami is not married yet. However, she has a son, Jai Malik Wiggins Jr., with her ex-boyfriend Jai Wiggins. The two separated after Jai Wiggins beat her and committed domestic violence on multiple occasions.

In December 2018, she began dating Joshua Howard Luellen, also known as Southside, one of Atlanta’s top record producers. However, the couple broke up, but later Southside bought Yung Miami a new Mercedes Benz and the two got back together. She and Southside have a son together, whom they named Summer Miami Luellen.

The judge eventually agreed to postpone her surrender date. JT began serving her sentence in July 2018 and is expected to be released on March 1, 2020. While JT was in prison, Yung Miami continued to promote the band’s music, saying, “While she was in jail, I would go to strip clubs and pay DJs $20 to play this song.”

After signing with Quality Control Music, the duo was named this week’s most popular new artists based on their active performances on the Billboard charts Hot 100, Social 50 and Billboard 200.

City Girls’ debut mixtape, Period, was released in May 2018 and peaked at number 16 on Heatseekers Albums that same month. The album also peaked at number 26 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 30 best hip-hop albums of 2018.
