She also did about five films before heading to Nigeria in 2007 to work with Genevieve Nnaji for the first time and got her first leading role in the film Princess Terra.
Yvonne Nelson has since worked hard to become the head of her family in the movie industry and launched her career in the Nigerian movie industry.

early life
Yvonne Nelson was born on November 12, 1985 in Accra, Ghana. She is from Cape Coast, Ghana. Her father is O Nelson and her mother is Margaret Gaddie.
She attended Agre Memorial High School in Accra after starting her schooling at St. Martin de Porres School in Accra, Ghana.
Yvonne Nelson completed her primary and secondary education at the Central University College of Ghana before attending the college where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.
In 2005, she participated in the prestigious Miss Ghana beauty pageant but failed to win.

Yvonne Nelson first auditioned for a movie in Ghana in 2000 when she was just starting her acting career. She rose to fame in 2007 when she played the lead role in the successful Ghanaian movie Princess Tera. After her success with Princess Tera, she went to Nigeria and acted in five other movies which helped launch her career in the Nigerian movie industry and made her a well-known figure.
“The Crime of Christ”, “Princess Terra”, “Soul Passion”, “Plan B”, “Tears of a Woman” are just a few of the nearly 100 films in which Yvonne Nelson has appeared.
After her successful film roles, Yvonne Nelson decided to make her first film, The Price, in 2011. A year later, she made Marry Next Year. In 2013, she won the Ghana Film Award for Best Film and the City People Entertainment Award for the Best Ghanaian Film in Nigeria.
She founded the Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation in 2010 to raise awareness of chronic diseases that take away people’s daily lives. Her charitable foundation also helps those in need, especially those with physical disabilities and those less fortunate.
She produced an all-star charity single and teamed up with other Ghanaian celebrities for a video to raise awareness about the deadly disease.
In 2013, Yvonne Nelson was awarded by GoWoman Magazine and Printex for her work in the film industry and her work with the Glaucoma Foundation. She is on a mission to protect the country’s electricity problem, along with other Ghanaian celebrities and ordinary people.
