Early life and education
Zari Hassan was born in Uganda on September 23, 1980. She is of mixed ethnicity; her maternal grandfather is Indian while her paternal grandmother is Ugandan. On the other hand, her paternal grandfather is Somali while her paternal grandmother is from Burundi.
Zari Hassan was born in Uganda to parents Nassul Hassan and Halima Hassan. Unfortunately, her mother passed away in July 2017 due to heart failure while receiving treatment at Nakasero Hospital in Uganda. She grew up with four other siblings, Zulaiha Hassan, Asha Hassan, Zara Hassan, and Abdul Karim Hassan. The boss lady is of mixed race; her maternal grandfather is of Indian descent, her maternal grandmother is Ugandan, and her paternal grandmother is from Burundi.

Zari Hassan completed her secondary education at Jinja Girls High School. While at school, she was a member of music, drama, and dance groups. Her talent earned her the Best Actress award for two consecutive years.
After graduating from high school, she moved to Kampala and made a lot of money by performing karaoke at different hangouts. She then took a break from showbiz and went to the UK to further her studies, where she obtained a diploma in cosmetology.
Zari Hassan didn’t stay in London for long, as she returned to Uganda to pursue her music career while building her business empire.

Growing up, Zari Hassan spotted my musical talent early on. She began singing in primary school and even performed at one point in the school’s end-of-year events. She also participated in competitions and musical talent shows, most of which were organized by the school’s staff.
In 2007, Zari Hassan recorded her first single “Oliwange” (You Are Mine). The single was nominated for the Best East African Video of the Year at the Africa Channel O Awards in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In 2009, Zari Hassan won the Diva Awards Diaspora of the Year. The Boss Lady is a South African entrepreneur who owns a college and a cosmetics store while pursuing her music career.

Zari Hassan was married to the late Ugandan-born South African socialite Ivan Semwanga. The couple had three sons before divorcing in 2013. Semwanga died of a heart attack in May 2017.
After the divorce, Zari Hassan started a relationship with Ugandan basketball player Farouk Sempala. The relationship did not last long as Farouk Sempala accused Zari Hassan of aborting his child.
Zari Hassan has three sons from her first marriage to the late Ivan Ssemwanga. They are Pinto Semwanga, Dido Semwanga and George Semwanga. She also takes care of Ivan Ssemwanga’s three other children from his first marriage.
Later, she dated music star Diamond Platnumz. Their relationship gave birth to Latifah Dangote and Prince Nillan. The relationship broke down due to infidelity. She also dated King Bae.
