Zelda Kingdom of Tears
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces a feature where players can use Amiibo statues to unlock various items and rewards. Amiibo are a series of interactive figures released by Nintendo that can be scanned using the Nintendo Switch console to activate special in-game content. In Kingdom Tears, players have the opportunity to use specific Zelda-themed Amiibo to receive exclusive unlockable content and perks.
To use Amiibo in Kingdom Tears, players need to have a compatible Amiibo figure and a Nintendo Switch console. Players can start the scanning process by placing the Amiibo in the NFC (Near Field Communication) area designated by the host. The game recognizes the scanned Amiibo and provides corresponding rewards or bonuses.
The list of known rewards for using Amiibo in Kingdom Tears includes various items and power-ups. These rewards may include additional weapons, armor sets, consumables such as health-restoring potions, or even cosmetic changes to Link’s appearance. Each Zelda-themed Amiibo has its own unique bonus, adding extra excitement and collectible value for players.
When using a Zelda-themed Amiibo in Kingdom Tears, some exclusive unlockable content is created specifically for the Zelda series. These rewards often pay homage to iconic items, characters, or locations from previous Zelda games, allowing players to experience a nostalgic connection to the series. Examples of such unlockables might include legendary weapons like the Master Sword, special outfits based on classic Zelda outfits, or even bonus side quests tied to familiar characters.

How to use Amiibo in Tears of the Kingdom?
Nintendo revealed on the official Kingdom Tears website that players can earn useful materials, weapons, or paraglider cloth based on scanned Amiibo from the Legend of Zelda series. These Amiibo can be scanned using the Amiibo abilities obtained on Daku Island, and each Amiibo can be scanned once per day.
If players save their game before scanning their Amiibo and don’t get the required rewards, they can choose to reload the save file and try again. Alternatively, they can save and exit, then adjust the Switch’s internal clock by a day to scan again.
In Kingdom Tears, scanning the Super Smash Bros. Link Amiibo will reward players with Epona, Link’s legendary horse, just like in Breath of the Wild. However, Epona cannot be customized, renamed, carry goods, or have her stats upgraded.
While Wolf Link appears in Breath of the Wild via the Wolf Link Amiibo in Twilight Princess HD Special Edition, he does not appear in Kingdom Tears.
Players can use a variety of Zelda-themed Amiibo, as well as non-Zelda Amiibo, to perform different functions and earn rewards. Non-Zelda Amiibo drop currency, food components, and sometimes weapons. Zelda-themed Amiibo may drop the same items, as well as a chance to get exclusive themed items. This could include unique paraglider fabric not found elsewhere or part of a Link-themed armor set.
It’s important to note that unlike Breath of the Wild, all Amiibo armor sets are available in Kingdom Tears without any specific Amiibo requirements.
