Early life
Zig Ziglar was born to John Silas Ziglar and Lila Wescott Ziglar in Alabama. He is the tenth child in a family of 12 children and the youngest.
When he was 5 years old, he moved with his family to Yazoo City in Mississippi, the town where he spent many of his childhood days.

Zig Ziglar joined the Navy in 1943. He entered the V-12 Naval College Training Program at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina but left after two years in 1945.
He encountered many challenges during his childhood days, which hindered his studies, causing him to drop out of college in 1947.
Zig Ziglar began writing and motivating people at the age of 15, a talent and charisma that he later developed as his career path.
At the age of 86, the famous speaker and author died of pneumonia at a hospital in Plano, Texas, and he was laid to rest in McKinney, Texas.

Zig Ziglar began his speaking and writing career in 1947. After dropping out of college, he became interested in self-help and motivational speaking and gave his speeches. In 1963, he became a charter member of American Salesmasters.
As a motivational speaker, he has spoken extensively in various conferences and seminars, including the National Association for Sales Education (NASE).
Zig Ziglar was the founder of the Zigmanship Institute, later known as Ziglar, Inc.
Due to memory loss and health difficulties, Zig Ziglar withdrew from motivational seminars in 2010, just two years before his death.

He was only 17 years old, and she was 16; they married in late 1946 after a two-year courtship. Their marriage produced four children; Tom Ziglar, Julie Ziglar Norman, Suzan Ziglar Witmeyer and Cindy Ziglar Oates.
