The Jurassic Park franchise features many prominent dinosaurs throughout its six movies, many of which should return in Jurassic World: Rebirth. The Velociraptors and Tyrannosaurus Rex have been staple Jurassic Park dinosaurs since their first appearance in the original 1993 Stephen Spielberg film as they have appeared in every movie in the franchise. With the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth, the fourth installment of the Jurassic World series, releasing in 2025, there is no doubt they will return alongside some other familiar faces.

Although Jurassic Park’s dinosaurs are not all accurate, they have helped to popularize dinosaurs in the mainstream media and have also created some fantastic moments on-screen. Furthermore, the most recent film, Jurassic World Dominion has even included its first feathered dinosaurs, following modern science uncovering the feathered creatures, meaning that the franchise is always giving something new and exciting. Therefore, from fan favorites to the underutilized but interesting additions, there are plenty of dinosaurs we would like to see in the new Jurassic World: Rebirth.
10 Dilophosaurus

Jurassic Park introduced a lot of classic dinosaurs that have appeared throughout the franchise, but the Dilophosaurus has only been seen once since its introduction in 1993. The Dilophosaurus appears in one of the most famous scenes of Jurassic Park in which Dennis Nedry is killed; having disabled the park’s security systems to escape with InGen’s dinosaur embryos, Dennis Nedry is attacked by Dilophosaurus venom and devoured in his jeep. The Dilophosaurus reappears in Jurassic World Dominion in a direct ode to this scene, as Lewis Dodgson is ambushed by Dilophosaurus while trying to escape with the same Barbasol can.
The only Dilophosaurus that appears in
Jurassic World
is a hologram in the Innovation Center, which Gray Mitchell used to distract a Velociraptor.
The Dilophosaurus has been contested over the years due to its inaccuracies. Although the Dilophosaurus did have two thin crests of bone on its head, they didn’t have frills or the ability to spit venom, and they were much bigger in real life. These attributes were made up for the films. Regardless, the Jurassic Park versions of the Dilophosaurus are arguably one of the coolest-looking dinosaurs, and despite having two mirrored appearances in the franchise, it would also be interesting to see them in a different context in the new Jurassic Park: Rebirth.

9 Dimetrodon
Jurassic World Dominion
Close
The Dimetrodon appeared for the first time in Jurassic World Dominion, where several of them attacked Maisie Lockwood, Alan Grant, and Ellie Sattler in the Amber Mines. Despite being carnivorous, the only victim of the Dimetrodon was Grant’s hat, which was ripped to shreds. Technically, this Jurassic World creature is not a dinosaur in the typical sense, as the Dimetrodon is a synapsid that predates the entire dinosaur species by several millions of years.
It would be exciting to see a wider variety of dinosaurs in
Jurassic World: Rebirth
, moving away from the classic designs like the Tyrannosaurus Rex, so the Dimetrodon would be a good choice.

As most of the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park franchise are bipedal, the Dimetrodon stands out as being one of the few four-legged dinosaurs in the series. The most interesting element of the Dimetrodon is the large red sail along its spine, which makes the dinosaur rather fearsome looking. It would be exciting to see a wider variety of dinosaurs in Jurassic World: Rebirth, moving away from the classic designs like the Tyrannosaurus Rex, so the Dimetrodon would be a good choice.
8 Microceratus
Jurassic World Dominion
Close
Although most of the drama comes from the exciting thrill of deadly carnivorous dinosaurs, some of the most touching scenes in Jurassic Park have included herbivores. For example, the most memorable moment in which the dinosaurs are first revealed in their natural environment in 1997’s Jurassic Park features only Brachiosaurus and Parasaurolophus. Therefore, the addition of the Microceratus was quite exciting, and they are actually one of Colin Trevorrow’s favorites, having previously mentioned his desire for the “pretty awesome” dinosaur to appear in Jurassic World.

Jurassic World 4 could be the perfect opportunity to introduce some new and unusual dinosaurs to distinguish it from the franchise’s past.

Trevorrow got his wish as the Microceratus finally appeared in Jurassic World Dominion at the Amber Clave Night Market after being cut from two other Jurassic Park movies. Unfortunately, the tiny dinosaurs have little screentime but, in a world now living among dinosaurs, they could make a return in Jurassic World: Rebirth. At just 2.5 feet in length, the Microceratus are rather cute dinosaurs and would make good dinosaur pets in this new era of coexistence, especially as Jurassic World’s original storyboard included the Microceratus at the Gentle Giants Petting Zoo.
7 Oviraptor

There are lots of raptor species in the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies, yet none of them are quite as strange as the Oviraptor. Despite not appearing in the theatrical cut, the Oviraptor does appear in Jurassic World Dominion’s extended edition. During the Amber Clave Night Market scene, an Oviraptor was pitted against a Lystrosaurus, a rather docile herbivore. Due to its opponent’s calm demeanor and diet, audiences would expect the omnivorous Oviraptor (whose name means “egg thief”) to quickly dispatch the Lystrosaurus. However, in a comedic twist, the Oviraptor was decapitated in one bite and ran around headless.
The Oviraptor has a beak, and even more unusually, a pair of teeth in the roof of its mouth.

The Oviraptor has many strange features which would make it stand out in Jurassic World: Rebirth. The Oviraptor has a beak, and even more unusually, a pair of teeth in the roof of its mouth. Furthermore, the Oviraptor also has a thin crest of bone on its forehead and is covered in white feathers which lead to a fan of feathers at the end of its tail. The Oviraptor’s strange appearance and extremely limited screen time left many audiences wanting more from the bizarre dinosaur, so hopefully it will appear in the latest movie.
6 Pachycephalosaurus
The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic World
Close
The Pachycephalosaurus is first seen being captured in The Lost World: Jurassic Park due to the InGen team’s gathering of dinosaurs for transportation to San Diego’s awaiting theme park. However, the Pachycephalosaurus, among other dinosaurs, manage to escape the camp when Nick Van Owen and Sarah Harding sneak into the camp and free them. The Pachycephalosaurus don’t appear again in the Jurassic Park franchise until Jurassic World, where they are seen briefly in surveillance footage. A Pachycephalosaurus lookalike, the Stygimoloch – which some argue is simply a juvenile form – appeared in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Jurassic World Dominion.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
.
Although they are one of the most recognizable dinosaurs due to their domed heads, the Pachycephalosaurus is another famous dinosaur that does not appear as much as it should in the Jurassic Park franchise. They gained notoriety when a 1970s paleontologist theorized the Pachycephalosaurus used their domed heads to ram each other, causing these scenes to be added to the Jurassic Park series. However, this has since been disproven. The strange and somewhat beloved dinosaur would be a great addition to Jurassic World: Rebirth as the Pachycephalosaurus has had very little screentime so far in the saga.

The Pyroraptor is part of the more modern depictions of dinosaurs that appeared in Jurassic World Dominion. Its only appearance happens when Owen Grady and Kayla Watts get trapped on the iced-over dam following their plane crash. The Pyroraptor emerges on the ice and quickly dives under the water when the ice begins to crack, showcasing its incredible swimming ability as a semiaquatic dinosaur, despite its feathered appearance. Furthermore, the Pyroraptor demonstrated remarkable agility in navigating the icy surface.

There are five different raptors in Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World movie trilogy, making it hard to keep track of what happens to each of Blue’s pack.

While the Jurassic Park series has featured many different raptors in the past, the Pyroraptor is an interesting addition due to its feathered appearance. The red hues match the Pyroraptor’s name and mark a move away from the usually dull reptilian raptors seen in the franchise thus far. If Jurassic World: Rebirth truly is a rebirth, it would make sense to include more colorful and feathered dinosaurs, in line with modern scientific discoveries.

4 Quetzalcoatlus
Jurassic World Dominion
Close
Pteranodon have appeared in every Jurassic Park movie since The Lost World: Jurassic Park, making them a staple in the franchise. However, the introduction of the Quetzalcoatlus showcased a new type of Pterosaur that was even more deadly. As the largest species of any animal to ever fly, the Quetzalcoatlus was capable of downing a plane in Jurassic World Dominion, demonstrating power and size previously unseen for flying dinosaurs in the franchise.
Quetzalcoatlus are carnivorous pterosaurs that have a wingspan of up to 47 feet and are named after a feathered serpent god in Aztec mythology

Quetzalcoatlus have slightly more screentime in the extended edition of Jurassic World Dominion, as four of them land near a Pteranodon-scavenged carcass, and another one passes through a fight between a Giganotosaurus and Tyrannosaurus Rex. Their astonishing size and eerie looks make Quetzalcoatlus absolutely terrifying dinosaurs, capable of a lot of destruction. As a result, they would be a brilliant choice of dinosaur to make a return to the Jurassic Park franchise, having only appeared in one movie so far.
3 Spinosaurus
Jurassic Park III
Close
The Spinosaurus first appeared in Jurassic Park III and was the first dinosaur that Grant, Billy and the Kirbys encounter up close on the island in the film. Shortly after landing, Amanda attracts the attention of a Spinosaurus by shouting for Ben with a megaphone. The Spinosaurus runs in front of the plane during take-off, causing it to crash, and then attacks the wreckage. The dinosaur also reappears when Ben reunites with his parents, chasing them along the fence and later attacking their boat. The Spinosaurus does appear in other Jurassic Park movies, but only in skeleton form.

In Jurassic Park III, the Spinosaurus was capable of defeating a Tyrannosaurus Rex and it is argued to be one of the longest carnivorous dinosaurs at 14 meters in length. Its remarkable sail-like spine and deadly nature make the Spinosaurus stand out among other dinosaurs, but it has only appeared alive once in the franchise so far. Therefore, the Spinosaurus would make a great addition to Jurassic World Rebirth, because it is one of the strongest dinosaurs in Jurassic Park and certainly deserves more screentime.
2 Stegosaurus

The Stegosaurus is one of the most recognizable dinosaurs due to its large plates along its back and spiked tail and has been featured in five movies in the Jurassic Park franchise. The Stegosaurus doesn’t appear in the first Jurassic Park at all, and it is first seen in The Lost World: Jurassic Park when the group encounters a herd of Stegosaurus. They also have a brief appearance in Jurassic Park III and Jurassic World alongside a river, as part of the escaped dinosaurs in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and in cages in Jurassic World Dominion.

There are plenty of great dinosaurs introduced in Jurassic Park’s original trilogy. However, only four failed to return for the Jurassic World movies.
Posts
Despite being an iconic dinosaur, the Stegosaurus hasn’t really featured prominently in a Jurassic Park movie. The Stegosaurus often appears in the background of scenes, and there are only a few scenes on which they are particularly focused, such as when Zack and Gray Mitchell venture through the field in the gyrosphere in Jurassic World. As one of the most famous, yet somewhat underutilized dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, it would be cool to see them in the new movie in a more active role worthy of their notoriety.

1 Therizinosaurus
Jurassic World Dominion
Close
The creepiest dinosaur in the entire Jurassic Park franchise has to be the Therizinosaurus, which appeared in Jurassic World Dominion. The Therizinosaurus in the movie has ridiculously long claws and a menacing, almost turtle-esque face, making for a rather haunting silhouette among the jungle backdrops. When Claire crashes into the path of the Therizinosaurus, the dinosaur begins to hunt her down, becoming a terrifying force to be reckoned with.

However, Jurassic World Dominion got Therizinosaurus wrong as they are herbivores. There is no evidence to suggest the Therizinosaurus would hunt Claire down, as the plant eater would not be interested in eating her. The Therizinosaurus’ inaccurate behavior has been explained away by its blindness causing unusual aggression for the dinosaur, although this argument is somewhat weak. Nevertheless, the Jurassic Park version of the Therizinosaurus is nightmare material, and reminiscent of Michael Crichton’s original horror elements, so we would love to see more of it in Jurassic World: Rebirth.
