early life and education
Aditya Roy Kapur was born on November 16, 1985 in Mumbai (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, India. He is the son of Kumud Roy Kapur, who is of Punjabi Hindu descent, and Salome Aaron, who is of Jewish descent. Kapoor grew up a Hindu.
Kapoor is the youngest of three siblings. His elder brothers are former UTV Motion Pictures CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur and actor Kunaal Roy Kapur.
Kapoor studied at GD Somani Memorial School in Cuffe Parade, where his siblings also studied. His mother directed school plays there. Kapoor later entered St Xavier’s College for Grade 11, but failed and had to enter St Andrew’s College to avoid losing a year.
He eventually graduated from St. Xavier’s College, affiliated to Bombay University. During his school days, Kapoor was interested in becoming a cricketer but quit the cricket coaching career after reaching sixth standard.
