Early life and education
Aleksandar Mitrović was born on September 16, 1994 in Smederevo, Serbia, to parents Ivica and Natasha Mitrović. He has one sibling, an older brother named Milan Mitrović, who was a goalkeeper during his early years in football.

Career
Aleksandar Mitrović started his career at Partizan Belgrade youth academy. He made his senior debut with Partizan affiliate Teleoptik during the 2011–12 season, scoring seven goals in 25 appearances.
In June 2012, he signed his first professional contract with Partizan, making his debut in a Champions League qualifier against Valletta, where he scored shortly after coming on as a substitute. In November 2012, Mitrović scored in his first eternal derby, although Partizan lost 3–2 to Red Star Belgrade.
In 2013, Mitrović moved to Anderlecht for a record €5 million, where he quickly made an impact providing 2 assists on his debut. During two seasons in Belgium, Mitrović scored 44 goals in 90 appearances and won the Belgian Professional Football League championship in his first season. In 2015, Mitrović moved to Newcastle United for £13 million. His debut was marked by being booked after just 22 seconds of the match and after a few disciplinary issues he was loaned to Fulham in 2018.
