Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Monica Garcia has a rocky relationship with her mother, Linda. But Linda also appeared on the show, and fans are hopeful that they can patch things up.

Monica and Heather Gay talked about Monica’s “turbulent” relationship with her mother before the “carjacking” episode.

Monica tearfully recalled her childhood: “When I was 12, my mom decided that she wanted to follow her dreams so she sent me to live with a family in Pennsylvania and moved to New York.” She added, “My dad left me when I was four, and then my mom left me too, so I have huge abandonment issues because of that.”

The reality TV actress addressed her situation again in episode 6, admitting that she has “a little bit of resentment” towards her mother.

Monica Garcia’s mother from RHOSLC is named Linda Darnell. In episode 10 of season 4 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, Linda made a “peace offering” by asking her to attend therapy with her. Linda pulled up to Monica’s driveway and added, “I brought gifts.”

Monica explained that the car “wasn’t a gift,” adding: “I can’t do this anymore. I can’t handle it when you’re mad or so mad that you’re going to come and take my car.” In response, the Bravo star’s mother declared that she “won’t do it anymore,” adding that “I obviously have some skills to learn.”

Linda told Monica that she wanted to go to therapy with her daughter as they stood in the driveway of her house. “I think it would be good for us,” Linda said to her daughter.

Linda was eager to “get back on track,” but since they had both been to therapy before, Monica asked to “think about it.” Monica’s mother added, “When we had dinner, I was very serious about therapy. I thought it would be good for us. We need to get back on track. The cycle of dysfunction in our family has been going on for generations, right? You and I could be the ones to break it.”

Monica didn’t understand that and replied, “Mom, you just hijacked my car and you want to talk about something unusual?”

Monica mentioned that she didn’t think therapy was working the last time she and her mother went. As of this writing, their relationship hasn’t seemed to have improved. Monica stated that she and her mother “haven’t really talked since we finished filming” during an interview with Housewives Nightcap at BravoCon.

After their heated argument on the October 31 episode, Linda repossessed her daughter’s car in retaliation for their ongoing conflict. Their most recent confrontation took place after that incident.

After arriving at Monica’s house unannounced, Linda declares in the trailer, “I brought a gift,” to which the Bravolebrity retorts, “This is not a gift!” Returning Monica’s SUV was “a peace offering,” Linda makes clear, and Monica decides not to give in.

“I can’t do this anymore,” Monica said. “I can’t stand it when you get angry or mad, that you’re going to come and take my car.”

“Monica begged me to do this reality show with her. Begged. I didn’t want to do it. She told me to just cook and speak Portuguese. How did she respond? She did me dirty,” Linda said in a message posted on October 18 on X (formerly Twitter) as she scolded her daughter for the way she treated her during the concert. “Meanwhile, I would never compete with my only child — unless it was sports. I’m too smart to try to compete with Monica, she would chew me up and spit me out.”

Linda continued to deny her daughter’s accusations that she abandoned her, saying, “I always put her needs before mine, even as an adult. I’m not a perfect person but I *am* a devoted mother and Vóvó. God bless us, everyone. #RHOSLC.”

In her recent Tweet, Linda wrote, “Monica has been delinquent for two years. Two years. Not one year. First on-time payment is October 2023. I am not playing this game anymore. I am being slandered in the worst possible way. #RHOSLC“ .

TEAM star Monica Garcia revealed on her Bravo bio that she is “divorcing husband Mike for the second time.” When the Boston native met with co-stars Angie Katsanevas and Lisa Barlow for lunch, she mentioned the fact that she was in the process of getting a divorce.

“About four years into our marriage, I found myself in what you might call an entanglement,” Monica explains. “That led to a divorce and then a wedding because we were divorced and we remarried. And now we are divorced again.”

Monica and Mike were reportedly married in September 2009 in Kaysville, Utah. Monica has been pretty clear about having primary custody of the kids on RHOSLC.

Two days after Christmas in December 2013, Monica first filed for divorce from her husband Mike, citing “irreconcilable differences.” A dismissal order and final judgment were both filed shortly thereafter, in May 2014 and June 2014, respectively. After the judgment was issued in January 2015, the divorce was eventually dismissed.

The couple had only one daughter, Jaidyn, now 13, during their marriage, the ruling said.

Because it was not included in the divorce papers, the father of Monica’s 17-year-old daughter, Bri, remains unknown. Although Mike was allowed visitation with Jaidyn, Monica was awarded sole custody at the time. Joint legal custody was awarded to both parents. According to court documents, Monica’s estimated gross monthly income at the time was more than $4,500.

After reconciling, the couple appeared to have been together for eight years. Monica then filed for divorce a second time on June 12, 2023. The petition or other documents have not been made available to the public. The latest filing, filed in late August, suggests the estranged couple are now in the process of divorcing.

Since the domestic relations restraining order has been filed, neither party may “harass, threaten, or disrupt the peace of the other.” They also may not “use the other party’s name, likeness, likeness, or identifying information to obtain credit, open accounts for service, or obtain services.”

The couple appears to have lived in a modest home throughout their marriage, which is currently estimated to be worth around $425,000. While Monica’s current address is unknown, Mike is the registered owner of the property, according to public records. Mike was contacted by The US Sun for comment on this story.

In the second episode of RHOSLC, Monica made a shocking revelation about being disfellowshipped from the Mormon Church while sharing more about her past. Monica confessed to Heather Gay that she had been “having sex” with her brother-in-law for 18 months while they were shopping. The Brea Baby creator went on to say that she informed her bishop about the affair because she “felt guilty.”

Monica was immediately “shunned by everyone and really unwelcome everywhere,” which she described as “one of the worst experiences of my life.” Monica clarified that she was not sleeping with her husband’s brother; it was her husband’s sister’s husband.

Her brother-in-law did not receive the same treatment and remained in the church. “That’s right,” Heather asserted. “They never disfellowshipped the men.”
