Brief Introduction about Amar Naik

Amar Naik is an underworld kingpin who controls one of India’s most powerful and feared gangs. Born into a poor family in Mumbai, he comes from a humble background and has no formal education. He has an older brother named Ashwin Naik.

At just 15 years old, he became a gang member and began his criminal career by committing petty thefts at local train stations. He soon moved on to extorting, raping, and murdering rival gang members.

According to police sources, Amar Naik killed more than 500 people in 2001 before being shot dead in 2002. His family continued to live under police protection due to constant threats from rival gangs, which are still active today.

How did he become such a fearsome gangster?

Amar Naik was born into a criminal family and started his career as a petty thief. He later joined a small gang operating on Mumbai beaches, robbing tourists.

Without a proper education or many opportunities, Amar Naik had few options, but he soon came to the attention of one of India’s biggest mafia leaders, Varadarajan Mudaliar.

Soon after joining Mudaliar’s D-Company (the name of Dawood Ibrahim’s crime network), he was sent out of the state to work with Chhota Rajan—who had split from Dawood Ibrahim in 1993 and declared himself an independent mafia don.

When Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Anees Ibrahim was murdered, Chhota Rajan blamed Amar Naik and ordered him to be killed. However, instead of killing him, they took him to Dubai and promoted him to the head of their network. He also established ties with many Hindu gangs based in Uttar Pradesh as he tried to expand his influence across India.

Earlier in his gangster career, Amar Naik is said to have killed many people and escaped from prison himself at least five times – and succeeded all four times!

He is believed to have been responsible for the murder of around 800 people, including rival gang members, politicians, local police officers and business owners who refused to pay protection money. Many believe that his ambition led to his downfall.

Why is he in jail?

After years on the run, Amar Naik was arrested by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation and convicted on numerous charges, including murder, kidnapping, extortion, smuggling and drug trafficking.

Amar Naik’s journey from school dropout to feared crime lord is remarkable. Before his arrest, he ran a $9 billion business empire with hundreds of thousands of employees worldwide.

Cause of death

On October 24, 1995, at around 9 p.m., Amar Naik was shot dead by police. He was surrounded by a building near Mahim. He and his accomplices had killed two policemen and three others earlier that day.

In total, he is believed to have killed more than 150 people. He was only 30 years old when he died.
