Early life
Angus Buchan’s parents were immigrants from Scotland to Zimbabwe, where he was born.
His exact birthplace was Bulawayo Southern Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe.

Angus Buchan started out as a farmer in Zambia. His main crop at the time was maize, and he was also a cattle rancher.
In 1976, he decided to move his farmland to South Africa, where he chose Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal, as his new home.
Angus Buchan achieved great success on his farm and had a good life with his family. As a Christian, he felt a responsibility to spread the gospel to those around him, which was the main idea behind establishing his worship center called Shalom Ministry.
He founded this ministry with his lovely wife, Jill Buchan, as co-founder. With his missionary work and constant mission, Angus had no choice but to pass his farmland on to his talented sons.
His ministry grew and he moved from his community to the African continent.
Angus Buchan traveled to many African countries and attended many evangelistic conferences. He was also a religious television presenter at the time.
To promote his ministry, he decided to publish a book describing his true story, titled Faith Like Potatoes.
The book was successfully published and distributed in 1998. The book was adapted into a film in 2006 with the same title.
In 2001, a film titled “Ordinary People” was produced, a semi-biographical depiction of his growth in priesthood from 1970 to 2012.
