Armored Core 6: Rubicon Fire gameplay
Armored Core 6: Rubicon Fire delivers an exciting gameplay experience centered around mech-vehicle combat, putting players into the cockpit of the powerful machine known as Armored Core. As skilled pilots, players navigate a world ravaged by conflict and dominated by mechanized giants who hold the keys to supremacy.
The core of the gameplay is mastering these armored cores. Players have unprecedented levels of control over their machines, both in terms of movement and customization. These towering mechs can be tweaked with a variety of parts, allowing players to fine-tune and enhance their abilities to match their preferred playstyle.
A defining feature of the gameplay is the wide variety of weapons available. With slots on each arm and a pair on the back of the mech, players are free to choose from an extensive arsenal of weapons. This strategic diversity allows players to tailor their equipment to specific situations, whether it’s a long-range engagement or a close-quarters fight.
The arena concept, a staple of previous entries in the series, makes a triumphant return in the form of the Combat Capability Assessment Program. Here, players can test their mettle against other pilots and participate in exciting battles to showcase their skills. Victory brings not only glory but also in-game currency called points. These points serve as rewards for successfully completing missions, and their amount is affected by the goals achieved during those missions. However, those who fail to complete all mission objectives may be subject to deductions.
Armored Core 6: Rubicon Fire plot
Armored Core VI: Rubicon Fire takes place on the frontier planet Rubicon 3. This inhospitable world holds the key to human progress with the discovery of coral – a versatile substance that can serve as both a source of energy and a data conduit. However, the coral triggered an unforeseen disaster called the Crested Ibis Fire, engulfing the Earth in flames and releasing deadly pollutants. What followed was the supposed eradication of all coral, but signs of its return appeared five years later on Rubicon 3.
Players assume the role of C4-621, an augmented human who assumes the role of Armored Core pilot under the duress of the mysterious Handler Walter, “The Raven”. Revan lands on Rubicon 3 and assumes the identity of a fallen mercenary, becoming embroiled in a conflict for control of the rediscovered coral. Megacorporations Barram Industries and Aquibus competed with the Rubicon Liberation Front (RLF) and the Planetary Containment Authority (PCA), both seeking dominance. During the battle, Raven forms a bond with the mercenaries Rusty and Kara, while a mysterious woman named Elle communicates with him through coral.
The exploration of coral brought revelations. The PCA deploys the Coral superweapon, Balam and Arquebus join forces to fight the PCA, and a powerful force within Coral reveals its identity, Ayre. As power struggles escalate, alliances are formed and collapsed, and Raven faces critical choices. Guided by his loyalty, he assists Kara in her mission to destroy coral, or works with Al to maintain the symbiotic relationship between coral and humans.
The climax ensues as Raven makes her final decision. Either help Kara cause the catastrophic “Raven Fire” that wipes out all life on the Rubicon, but fulfills Walt’s intentions. Alternatively, siding with El will lead to a future of coexistence, and the Coral Release Project will usher in a new era for the entire universe.
