Early life
Arthur Eze was born into a royal family in Ukpo Village, in Dunukofia Local Government Area. He came into the world on November 27, 1948. He belongs to the Ibo ethnic group and is from the Southeast region of the country. He is an indigene of Anambra State.
As a member of the royal family, he is a Prince. His brother is the current king – traditional ruler – of Ukpo Village.
Arthur Eze spent his early years residing in Ukpo Village, where he was taught the customs and traditions of his ancestors. His parents raised him with good qualities and he learned leadership and business skills from his teenage days.
Education
Arthur Eze attended public schools in Dunukofia Local Government Area for his primary education.
He was then admitted to St. Augustin in Nkwere, Imo State, for his secondary education.
He graduated from the school as one of its best students, scoring excellent marks in the Senior School Certificate Examinations.
Arthur Eze then moved to the United States to study at university. He earned dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, in 1978.
Career
After earning his bachelor’s degree, Arthur Eze returned to Nigeria to join the corporate world. Thanks to his academic success in college, he landed a lucrative job in the oil industry. He worked as an employee for several years before quitting to start his own company. This led to the founding of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, a privately held exploration and production corporation.
Under his leadership, Prince Arthur Eze grew Atlas Oranto Oil into one of Africa’s largest oil exploration block holdings. The company has 22 oil and gas exploration licenses in 12 jurisdictions on the African continent. Atlas Oranto Oil has oil and gas assets in Nigeria, Liberia, Gambia and Equatorial Guinea. The oil company has its headquarters located in Abuja, while its technical facility is in Lagos.
Atlas Oranto Oil is a private company with investors. However, the controlling stake belongs to Prince Arthur Eze and his family. Other shareholders of the company are involved in the management of the company’s affairs.
Arthur Eze was an astute businessman. He has investments in other areas. He used to participate in the aviation industry. He is the founder of the now defunct Triax Airlines, which was licensed to operate in 1992. The airline is headquartered in Enugu State and has three commercial aircraft that ply the cities. But by 2000, the company ceased operations.
Arthur Eze is also a respected politician and has been involved in Nigerian political affairs for decades now. He is considered one of the godfathers in Anambra’s political space. He is famous for sponsoring parties and donating to the campaign funds of candidates he believes in. He is one of the notable people who donated to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He is also credited as one of the founders of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) party.
On November 14, 2011, Arthur Eze was awarded the National Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) title by Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The award was given as a recognition of his humanitarian work and contribution to the development of the national economy.
Personal life
Arthur Eze is a family man. He is married to Mrs. Eze and is blessed with children. One of his sons, Mr. Onyeka Eze, is the founder and chairman of the Prince Osisioma Foundation. He owns many properties in different countries and has a fleet of luxury cars. He has a son and daughter with the son’s name Olisa Eze.
He is a respected philanthropist who is famous for helping the less fortunate in society and sponsoring social causes.
In 2013, he donated US$12 million to build the St. John’s Anglican Monastery and Youth Development Center. Stephen in Bayelsa State. In addition, he also donated 10 million naira to the elderly in his village.
Arthur Eze is one of the owners of Mansions and a fleet of cars in Nigeria.
