He is also the CEO of Corporate World Entertainment and host of the popular comedy show AY Live.

Early life

On August 19, 1971, popular comedian Ayo ‘AY’ Makun was born in Warri, Delta State. Originally from Ifon, Ose Local Government in Ondo State, the award-winning comedian grew up in the town of ‘Wafirian’ and is the eldest of seven children.

Ayo ‘AY’ Makun has two older brothers named Yomi Makun and Lanre Makun, as well as three younger sisters: Bimbo Makun, Bukky Makun and Morenike Makun.

He was called Warri Boy as a child, a nickname that has stuck to him to this day. Ayo ‘AY’ Makun was not known for his intelligence as a child, however, his ability to read situations and spot opportunities made him a formidable force in his neighbourhood.

After completing his basic and primary education, Ayo ‘AY’ Makun attended a secondary school in Warri and graduated after the stipulated time with an SSCE certificate.

He was admitted to Delta State University, Abraka, in the early 90s and studied Theatre Arts. However, the 49-year-old spent nine years at the academy before graduating with a BA in 2003.
