He is also the CEO of Corporate World Entertainment and host of the popular comedy show AY Live.

Early life
On August 19, 1971, popular comedian Ayo ‘AY’ Makun was born in Warri, Delta State. Originally from Ifon, Ose Local Government in Ondo State, the award-winning comedian grew up in the town of ‘Wafirian’ and is the eldest of seven children.
Ayo ‘AY’ Makun has two older brothers named Yomi Makun and Lanre Makun, as well as three younger sisters: Bimbo Makun, Bukky Makun and Morenike Makun.
He was called Warri Boy as a child, a nickname that has stuck to him to this day. Ayo ‘AY’ Makun was not known for his intelligence as a child, however, his ability to read situations and spot opportunities made him a formidable force in his neighbourhood.

Education
After completing his basic and primary education, Ayo ‘AY’ Makun attended a secondary school in Warri and graduated after the stipulated time with an SSCE certificate.
He was admitted to Delta State University, Abraka, in the early 90s and studied Theatre Arts. However, the 49-year-old spent nine years at the academy before graduating with a BA in 2003.
During his time at the school, Ayo ‘AY’ Makun became a household name, winning praise for his creativity, skill and resourcefulness. He won the school’s most fashionable student award in 1999 and 2000 and became the school’s best TV presenter the following year.
Ayo Makun was also the school’s most praised student in 2001 and was awarded the Jaycee Club’s social personality award in 2003.
Career
Ayo ‘AY’ Makun began his illustrious career as a stand-up comedian. He was previously an events manager and worked as a personal assistant to Alibaba Akporobome. In his quest for stardom, he published an article, Going AY Wire in The Sun (Nigeria), and was a cast member of the show, Laugh Mattaz, hosted by comedian Gbenga Adeyinka.
He also appeared on the comedy show Night of a Thousand Laughs hosted by Oppa Williams before getting his own show on TV and radio.
Ayo ‘AY’ Makun also serves as a Host and Presenter on his shows. His show, AY Live, is one of Africa’s biggest comedy shows and is held annually with popular comedians Bovi, Helen Paul, Seyi Law, Elenu and many others. In addition, a variety of musical artists perform at the live event.
This hard-working Nigerian comedian has also served as a pathway to big breaks in the comedy industry, with the Open Mic Challenge producing promising talent from time to time. Ayo ‘AY’ Makun is also the CEO of Corporate World Entertainment, Nigeria and owns an expensive club in Lagos State.
In 2018, he co-hosted the Africa Golden Film Awards with Joselyn Dumas in Accra, Ghana.

Popular comedian Ayo ‘AY’ Makun, is now married to Mabel Makun. The two took their vows in 2008 and have been together ever since. Their marriage is also blessed with a daughter; Michelle Makun and a son Ayomide Makun.
