WEBSITE: Varun Dhawan’s latest action film, “Baby John”, has kicked off with a bang at the box office, raking in a whopping Rs 410 million on its first day of release.
The film is inspired by the 2016 Tamil film, ‘Theri’, and marks the actor’s best opening in five years.

The cast includes Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff and Rajpal Yadav.
Baby John is directed by Kalees and produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee and Jyoti Deshpande. There was also a special appearance by one of the Khans – Salman, which certainly helped attract the audience.
Despite its strong box office performance, audience reception appeared to be uneven. According to local news outlets, the biggest criticism was directed at the film’s pacing and action scenes.
The film has reportedly been described as “predictable”, even criticized for being “too similar” to the original.
Baby John was released alongside the blockbuster “Pushpa 2” and another Disney live-action based on previous films, “Mufasa: The Lion King.”

The film benefited greatly from Christmas Day, when audiences had a day off to go to theaters and enjoy the film.
The film’s financial performance is predicted to be between Rs 420 million and Rs 490 million.
