Siyabonga Nene, better known as “Big Zulu”, is a 38-year-old South African rapper, songwriter and actor, best known for his Inkabi rap style.
He was born on April 7, 1986, and grew up in his hometown in KwaZulu-Natal. The rapper started out as a taxi driver but ventured into the music industry in 2009.
Since then, Big Zulu has released hit rap songs such as “100 Bars”, “Ang’Mazi Umama”, “Big Zulu Ama Million”, “Billion (Ama million remix)”, “Lomhlaba Unzima” and “Ushun Wenkabi”.

early life
Siyabonga Nene, also known as Big Zulu, was born in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal on April 7, 1986. His parents were not well-off and could barely make ends meet for the family.
As a result, Big Zulu was extremely hardworking, a trait that endeared him to his neighbors and childhood friends.
He grew up listening to Maskandi and Scathamiya and idolizing artists like Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Phuzekemisi and Imithende.

He also has two children: a daughter born to him and his current wife, and a son, Shaka, born to him and Bulelva Nazo.
In 2018, Big Zulu was arrested in Gauteng for allegedly assaulting the mother of one of his children. The incident attracted criticism from many of his fans.
He currently lives in Newtown with his girlfriend and children.
