Early life
The church’s senior pastor Bishop I Makamu grew up in a church. He was recognized as a preacher during his high school years, earning him the nickname “Bishop” in high school.
He grew up in the Gauteng town of Katlehong. Having a pastor as a father didn’t help as he was under pressure not to have his children go through that.

People expected him to be the ideal pastor’s son, but he said, “I’m not perfect at all.” He didn’t drink or smoke, and he was devoted to his family. Bishop I Makamu sometimes refused to go to church or participate in church activities.
Titus Makamu (father) and Rophinia Makamu (mother) are Israel’s parents. His parents were churchgoers, although his father died late. In 2017, he lost his father, a pastor.
Education
Although this preacher has a degree in Theology, Bishop I Makamu does not want to discuss it because he believes his skills “are innate”, having attended Bible school.

Bishop I. Makamu Ministries outreach programs reach all provinces and beyond with his outreach programs. Although he is the founder of the church, he is still paid like any other employee.
His show, which was scheduled to premiere in July 2019, has been postponed. Bishop flaunted his lavish lifestyle and traveled with bodyguards on the show.
In the first episode of the show, he is seen on his way to the airport to board a flight to Durban to preside over a church service.

Hloniphile Makamu is the wife of Bishop I. Makamu. In 2003, he met his wife while dropping off a friend and saw her standing near a traffic light.

He was immediately attracted to her and determined to pursue her. The priest had to stop and approach her. It was the first time he approached a woman. He followed her for about a week to get her attention.
He met her when she was a 19-year-old student studying nursing at the Ann Latsky Nursing College in Joburg.
Their marriage took place in 2005, after dating for two years and meeting on the same day. His wife was in her thirties.
The union of Bishop I. Makamu and his wife, Hloniphile Makamu, is blessed with children. He lives with his family in the south of Johannesburg. Ntwanano Makamu, Ntokozo Makamu and Ntsumi Makamu are the names of his children.
Bishop I. Makamu and his family live in a luxurious gated community in the southern suburbs of Johannesburg. The mansion is a two-story building with large glass windows. A well-tended garden surrounds the beautiful grey house.
