In 2010, Ndumiso Mdletshe and Sphelele Dunywa met as teenagers.
They were still in high school at the time. Blaq Diamond met him at a rap cypher competition in their neighborhood.
Sphelele Dunywa is 29 years old and was born on December 1, 1994, while Ndumiso Mdletshe is 29 years old and was born on September 8, 1994.

Prior to the pandemic in 2020, Blaq Diamond released the album’s third single, “Love Letter.” The song peaked at number three on the iTunes music chart. It also achieved similar success on the radio airplay chart, peaking at number 11.
On January 31, 2020, duo Blaq Diamond released their much-anticipated second studio album, Umuthi. The album was a commercial success and reached number one on the iTunes album chart. While creating the album, Blaq Diamond collaborated with big names in the industry such as Cici, Thee Legacy, Sjava, and Igcokama Elisha.
