Early life and education
Bobby Deol was born in Mumbai, India on January 27, 1969. He was raised by his parents Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur along with five siblings – Sunny Deol, Esha Deol, Ajeita Deol, Ahana Deol and Vijeta Deol.
Bobby studied at Shri SVKM’s Mithibai School of Arts. His ethnicity is Indian and his religion is Hindu.
Profession
Bobby Deol made his debut in the romantic film Barsaat in 1995, alongside Twinkle Khanna. He played a naive but intelligent young man who moves from a small village to a big city and falls in love while getting involved with corrupt policemen and criminal gangs. The film was a box office success and he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debutant.
Deol scored another success in 1997 with the suspense thriller Gupt: The Hidden Truth, in which he played a man accused of murdering his stepfather. The film was widely praised for its gripping storyline and musical score. However, his other film Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, which he co-starred with Aishwarya Rai in 1997, flopped.
In 1998, Deol released two films – the flop Kalib and the military thriller Soldier. The latter was a huge hit and was the first of many collaborations with director duo Abbas-Mustan. His only release in 1999 was the lackluster love triangle Dheeraj.
In recent years, Deol has played supporting roles in films such as Race 3 (2018) and Housefull 4 (2019), the latter of which was a box office success. He also received critical acclaim for his performance in the web series Aashram (2020), in which he played a villain who claims to be a godman.
