ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Hospital, the only public healthcare facility in Islamabad dedicated to providing free medical treatment to serving and retired employees of the agency Civil servants, as well as their families, have struggled with persistent staff shortages as several key medical positions remain vacant.
Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi spoke about the vacant positions at the Capital Hospital, saying 40 positions at various levels, including grades 18 to 20, are currently unfilled in many departments of the hospital .
He shared this information in response to a question raised by Senator Kamran Murtaza in the Senate.
He said that among the vacant positions, many are under 19 years old, which poses a significant challenge to the hospital’s operational efficiency.

Specifically, 22 lessons in grade 18, 12 lessons in grade 19 and 6 lessons in grade 20 have not been implemented. The minister said efforts are underway to address these shortfalls through promotions and new recruitment.
He further explained that the promotion cases are being handled by the Human Resources Department (HRD). The Minister said the necessary prerequisites have been met to ensure compliance with the established criteria, ensuring that these cases will be finalized immediately after completing all necessary procedures.
“The government is committed to ensuring the smooth functioning of important public services, especially in the health sector, which is facing difficulties due to lack of personnel,” the minister said.
The completion of these promotions, he said, is expected to strengthen the hospital’s workforce, enhancing its ability to meet the growing healthcare needs of civil service employees. and other residents.
