early life
Chantal Janzen was born on February 15, 1979 in Tegelen, the Netherlands.
Both of her parents are Dutch; therefore she is of Dutch nationality.
Chantal Janzen studied at the Amsterdam Academy of the Arts. There she studied contemporary, classical, jazz and tap dance, singing, acting and musical repertoire.

Chantal Janzen has starred in several musicals, including Kunt u mij de weg naar Hamelen vertellen, mijnheer?, Crazy for You, Saturday Night Fever, Beauty and the Beast, 42nd Street, Tarzan, and a production of Petticoats. Chantal Janzen has played several roles in films: “Feestje”, “De Dominee”, “Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo”, “Alles is Liefde”, “Volle Maan”, “Kicks” and the TV movie “Loverboy”. In December 2002, her single “Achter De Sterren” was the theme song of the film “Science Fiction”.
In 2002, she won the prestigious John Claykamp Award for Newcomer in Music for her performance in Saturday Night Fever. In 2005, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her supporting role in the musical Crazy About You. However, in 2006, she was nominated for the Best Actress Award for her role as Belle in Beauty and the Beast. In 2007, she won the award again for her role as Jane in the musical Tarzan.
Chantal Janzen had to temporarily leave her role in the musical Tarzan from September 2008 to April 2009 due to her pregnancy at the time. However, she was later replaced by the talented Bente van den Brand.
After her role as Tarzan, she played a role in the Disney musical Sing-Along. In 2010, Chantal starred in the musical Petticoat. This was an original Dutch musical written especially for her. After her role in Petticoat, she played the role of Glinda in the Dutch version of the Broadway musical Wicked.
In 2011, Chantal Janzen ended her contract with Dutch TV station AVRO and signed a new one with RTL. Her reason was that the idea of experiencing other things filled her with passion.
In 2012, she had roles in a series called Divorce and Goede tijden, slechte tijden before returning in 2019 to play another supporting role in a film called Goede tijden, slechte tijden.
Since Chantal Janzen decided to move to RTL Netherlands, she has hosted several TV shows, including Everybody Dance Now, De Jongens tegen de Meisjes, It Takes 2, The Voice of Holland and Time To Dance.
She also hosted the Dutch versions of All Together Now, Dance Dance Dance and Dancing with the Stars. Over the years, Chantal Janzen has also been a judge on television shows including Your Face Sounds Familiar, The Talent Project and Holland’s Got Talent.
In addition, from 2015 to 2016, Chantal Janzen served as the host of “The Voice Kids” in Germany and as a judge of “Superkids”.
In 2019, Chantal was one of the members of “The Wall of the World” in the American television show The World’s Best. Also, on 4 December 2019, it was announced that she would be one of the three presenters of the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam, along with Edsilia Rombley and Jan Smit. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show was cancelled in March 2020. Likewise, it was replaced with Eurovision: Europe Shines on 16 May 2020, co-hosted by Janzen, Rombley and Smit.
Chantal Janzen has now been cast as the host of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. In November 2020, she was announced as the host of the game show Beat the Champions, the Dutch version of the British game show Beat the Chasers.
