Early life and education

Luis Crisologo Singson was born on June 21, 1941 in Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He is the second eldest of seven children born to José Singson and Caridad Crisólogo.

He has six siblings, Jerry Singson, Evaristo Singson, Jose Jr. Singson, Maria Olivia Singson and Germelina Singson. Singson attended Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila and earned a degree in Commerce.

Career

Luis “Chavit” Singson is a prominent Philippine politician and businessman. In 2007, he won a Senate candidacy after siding with the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo despite being an old friend of former President Joseph Estrada.

After losing the election, Singson was appointed Deputy National Security Adviser by Arroyo in 2008. He later rekindled his friendship with Estrada. In the 2010 Philippine presidential election, prominent political figure Chavit Singson supported the candidacy of Manny Villar of the Nacionalista Party.

Personal life

Chavit Singson was first married to Evelyn Singson, with whom he had a son, Ryan Luis Singson, who also became a politician. The couple later separated.

Singson is also in a cohabiting relationship with Rachel Tiongson, with whom he has five children: Christian Luis Singson, Ronald Singson, Chelsey Singson, Richelle Louise Singson-Michael and Richard Singson.

Their relationship ended in 2009 after Tiongson accused Singson of beating her after she had an affair with another man, although Tiongson claimed they had been estranged since November 2008.
