Early life and education
Christian Ogbonna Chiwetalu Agu is a veteran actor and comedian in the Nigerian film industry. He is known for his ability to speak fluent Igbo and use slang in his films.
He was born in Enugu, Nigeria on March 5, 1956. He is still alive.
Chiwetalu Agu received his primary education at the Auji Municipal Council School and St. Luke’s Primary School, Auji.
He received his secondary education at the Immaculate Conception College, Uwani and obtained his WASSCE certificate in 1977. In 1981, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Munich, Germany.
Profession
Like other actors, Chiwetalu Agu started showing his talent at a very young age. He underwent a one-year compulsory military service in Jos.
After retiring, he presented numerous shows with the Inspirers Theatre Group, which he founded in 1983. He also worked at the National Arts Authority (NTA) in Enugu before embarking on a full-time career in acting.
Chiwetalu Agu has starred in many films including the movie Things Fall Apart, the famous novel by the late great writer Chinua Achebe, Sunrise, Old School and many more.
He has worked with many stars including Ireti Doyle, Patience Ozokwor (popularly known as Mama G), Pete Edochie and many more.
He was recognized as a Nollywood developer by Professor Femi Shaka of the University of Port Harcourt for his skills and professionalism.
Chiwetalu Agu has also won some awards like the Best Actor in an Indigenous Film Award. He won the award for speaking the Igbo dialect in the film Nkwocha and has been nominated for a few.

Chiwetalu Agu is married to his wife Nkechi Agu. They have five children – three sons and two daughters. The names of his two sons are Christian Agu and Emeka Agu while the names of his daughters are unknown.
He is a native of Amokwe, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria.
