Christina Aguilera is fed up and speaking out against the body shaming that has plagued her throughout her career.
The 43-year-old singer and actress recently sat down for an interview with Glamour for the magazine’s latest cover story, which was published on Thursday. During their discussion, Aguilera didn’t hold back on the controversy surrounding her body amid rumors that she used Ozempic or some other diet pill to lose weight.
According to the “Genie in the Bottle” singer, her self-esteem was largely determined by how “skinny” she was due to the pressure to stay slim throughout her career. She admitted that when she gained weight, people in the industry would talk to her and urge her to get back to being skinny.
“When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s. I started getting fuller, and then it was unacceptable because it was like, ‘Oh, she’s getting thicker.’ Then I had people in the industry who were like, ‘They like your body and how skinny you are as a teenager,’” she told the outlet.
Over time, she realized that she shouldn’t let other people decide what she should do with her body. Aguilera credits this to her “maturity,” noting that she’s learned to ignore what other people say.

“I’m an adult now, I don’t care about your opinion anymore. I won’t take it. You have to take responsibility for your space. Other people’s opinions of me are none of my business,” she explained.
In May, the “Fighter” hitmaker sparked rumors that she had used Ozempic to help her lose weight dramatically. At a concert in Mexico at the time, fans were shocked to see her showing off a much smaller figure while performing on stage.
According to Page Six, videos from her show posted on social media were flooded with questions and comments about whether she might have used a diabetes diet pill to lose weight quickly.
Aguilera has never addressed the Ozempic rumors, but in a new interview, she said she wants to instill in her children, Max and Summer, a mindset of not caring about other people’s opinions. The former is her 16-year-old son with ex-husband Jordan Bratman, while the latter is her daughter with fiancé Matt Rutler, according to People.
“Your kids trigger things that you don’t want them to go through. And it’s almost like you’re reliving this whole thing all over again. I saw a lot of things when I was younger. You just want the best for your kids,” the “Burlesque” star added.
