Early life and education
Chum Darang was born on October 16, 1991 in Pasighat, East Siang district, Arunachal Pradesh, India. She was raised by her parents, Tajeep Darang and Yamik Dulom Darang, along with her older sister Mitu and younger brothers Tabit and Ninong Darang.
She completed her schooling in Pasighat and studied at Jawaharlal Nehru College in her hometown, where she obtained her diploma. She studied Mass Communication to improve her storytelling skills. Chum Darang belongs to Indian ethnicity and follows the Hindu religion.
Career
Chum Darang’s journey to participate in beauty contests began at the age of 16. Her love for beauty pageants began to arise in 2007, which became the driving force in her life.
A major milestone came in 2010 when she was crowned Miss AAPSU, marking her rise to the national and international stage. Her constant efforts and passion have brought her to a number of prestigious competitions:

- 2nd runner-up Miss Himalaya 2015
In 2016, she achieved crowning glory by winning Miss Earth India Country and representing India at the Miss Earth pageant. Her star rose even further in 2017 when she participated in the Miss Asia World pageant and placed fifth while also winning the title of Miss Internet.
She then won the Miss India Tiara International 2017 pageant, along with the titles of Miss Sportswear and Miss Best National Costume, surpassing 28 contestants from countries such as United States and Türkiye.
In the acting field, Darang first appeared in a web series in 2019 Paatal Lok (2020). Her feature film debut has appeared Badhaai Do (2022), in which her role as a homosexual friend was widely praised for its sensitivity and authenticity. She also appeared in Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022).
In 2024, Darang became the above contestant Big Boss 18, further demonstrating her versatility and charisma.
