Reema Khan was charged with fraud

LAHORE: Famous Pakistani actress Reema Khan has been accused of serious fraud by a man named Shahid Rafiq, who invested millions of rupees in her film.

In a brief interview outside the Lahore Press Club for a YouTube channel, Shahid Rafiq claimed that he had invested Rs. 21 million in Reema Khan’s 2009 film Love Mein Ghum but so far have not received any interest.

Shahid Rafiq said he returned to Lahore from Qatar in 2009 to invest in real estate in the Defense sector. During this time, he met Maira Khan, Reema Khan’s sister, a real estate agent.

According to Shahid Rafiq, Maira Khan offered to invest in Reema’s films instead of buying properties, guaranteeing him significant profits within five to six months.

After meeting with Reema, Shahid transferred the money but was later faced with a request for more funds.

Shahid Rafiq further revealed that he was invited to Malaysia during filming, where he stayed for 20 to 25 days with the main cast. Even though the film was completed, he did not receive any profits nor was he given any money back. Instead, he was asked for more money.

He added that Reema Khan made a deal with him in which he claimed to have all the evidence, including bank statements.

However, Reema applied for Rs. A 200 million VND defamation lawsuit against him accused him of fraud.

According to Shahid Rafiq, the civil court ruled in his favor, stating that Reema Khan had committed a fraud worth Rs. 21 million.

He claimed that Reema had lost the case in both the civil and sessions court and had now received a stay from the high court.

Shahid Rafiq stated that the court has summoned Reema Khan, but she is seeking an extension.

Reema Khan is yet to respond on the issue.
