Cosmas Maduka was born on the 24th day of December 1958. He was born and raised in a Christian home in Nnewi, Anambra State, Nigeria. He is 65 years old this year.

His father’s name is Peter Maduka, while his mother is simply known as Mrs. Rose Maduka. Cosmas Maduka began his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 6, two years after his father passed away.
He is said to have dropped out of primary school and started peddling Akara, a popular Nigerian dish made by frying ground beans. The dish is often sold on the roadside. Cosmas Maduka did all these side jobs to support his mother.

Cosmas Maduka officially ventured into business at the age of 17 after being falsely accused and fired for a small sum of N200 by his uncle, with whom he was learning the automotive trade.
After a few years of being fired by his uncle, he co-founded a replacement parts company called CosDave with his friend named Dave. The name CosDave was forged from their own name. Unfortunately, this startup failed.
After the failure of CosDave, Cosmas Maduka went on to found the Coscharis Automobile Group with a sum of 300 naira (N300), focusing on the sale of auto parts in 1977.
According to him, the company name is a combination of his name, Cosmas, and his wife, Charity, whom he married at the age of 20. Cosmas Maduka’s breakthrough in business began in 1982 when the Nigerian government granted gave 10 automobile companies import licenses, and Coscharis was one of the selected companies that received the license.
Today, Coscharis Group is a conglomerate with many subsidiaries, including Manufacturing, IT, Petrochemical, Auto Care, Auto Components, Auto Sales and Service, Agriculture business areas and the Agricultural Alliance. Coscharis Motors is a leading distributor of several luxury car brands such as Range Rover, Ford, Jaguar, BMW, etc.
